Forums - Nintendo Discussion - 3DS sales slump below DS - why, and what Ninty can do to fix it

I've yet to meet a person who thinks that the 3DS is a revised DS.

Really I think the slow sales are due to a (presently) shit library. People aren't going to buy it when it's got no games.

And even some upcoming games aren't that enticing. I know a lot of people like Ocarina, but that's not going to make people rush out and buy the system just for that.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

But it will add to the general strength of the library.

they need better ads for a start, the current buch don't really sell the systems features very well. They desperatly need some Brain training and Pokemon on the system as well, some real handheld focused games, Advanced wars, Mario cart and Super Mario 3DS wouldn't hurt ether.

The system has to many ports ATM and is in desperite need for AAA original content.

Check out my hype threads: Cyberpunk, and The Witcher 3!

1. Games. It needs more games. While it has a few gems, its largely not setup for mass market appeal.

2. 2 DSi or 1 3DS. Without #1, I have no reason to buy it.

Me personallly, my kids are earnign DSi's right now. They have saved about $60 each. I didn't even offer them 3DS as I am worried about long-term effects of 3D viewing on eyes. Probably just being paranoid, but I know DSi has many of similar media features and a huge game library. Plus, I can get two for the price of one 3DS.

3DS needs a pokemon, nsmb, casual games, etc. Current list of nearly all remakes or unknown IPs is not a good launch.

It was a way hyped up system that launched with no games and a high price tag.

Sounds familiar.

One game isn't enough for reviving 3DS sales. You need either loads of those games or a steady stream of killer apps.

I'm not too concerned with the 3DS's current situation. Nintendo knows what they're doing. They've yet to make a handheld that failed.

There´s always a first time...not that I hope the 3DS will turn out to be that first failure, but there are too many signs that do validate some concern about the system.

Don't say I didn't advice you guys about this.

Above: still the best game of the year.

Well, their first fail seems to be coming sooner rather than later.

Perhaps, but it's still early. With the proper software, I'm sure it can bounce back.

You´re right...it all comes down to games, as always...the problem might be that this time, Nintendo and the mass market might disagree as to what 'proper software' means, we´ll see.

By the way, CGI, I was reading this :http://www.destructoid.com/3ds-is-taking-fog-effects-very-seriously-guys-196681.phtml.....and remembered you!...why?....Silent Hill, of course!...if you read it, you´ll understand :)
