Forums - Sony Discussion - What people blaming Geohotz and the "hackers" seem to be missing...

Every security system does have flaws but there are basic things you're supposed to get right.  Sony did a wonderful job on the hard stuff with the PS3 but they failed pretty hard on the basic stuff.

And the ps3 wasn't hacked for 4 years and they are fixing the problems that came up now, I know it's a pain in the ass but these things happen, they can't go any faster with fixing the problem, I'm just as annoyed as everyone, now if psn goes back up and then ends up going down again after the upgrades then I'll be calling Sony incompetent

I think you should go further : I blame the PSN users, they knew how dangerous the internet was and put their precious info on them.

I kind of agree with this. Whenever I have to buy anything with my address, I put all my data in and don't save whatever can be stored. Afterwards I delete anything saved, like billing addres, and make a new one where I just bang my hands on the keyboard and save that.

I also noticed that this also prevents stupid impulse pruchases on my part. Not only am I safe, but I also save money on worthless stuff I may have bought.

my policy is : you don't take paypal, ypu don't get my money.

Of course it's the hackers' fault. They took the data.

It's also Sony's fault for not stopping them.

When building an online system, one has to go in with the mindset that every person on the planet is going to try to exploit it. Sony obviously failed to keep that in mind.

You hate Sony, we get it.

Most of the few beginning posters do. You only see it in almost every Sony related post they do.

Rocketpig, you can try to argue with people all you want, but you are talking to bunch of individuals that believes sony as an organization does no wrong.

so they should have asked the military to borrow their security systems?

apart from that, pretty much everything else is hackable when the whole hacking community is focused on it like it is with sony/ps3.

EDIT: intentionally does no wrong.

its the intentions that matter. its not like they left the keys outside the doors like in someones failed analogy.

In retrospect, I totally agree with you. I am stupid enough to believe a large organization could secure my information. However I still trust amazon, and for some reason have trouble removing my information from xbox360. Oh well CC companies are generally reasonable, when it comes to dealing with this shit.
