The PSN being down maybe one of the reasons why Socom has done badly. This was definitely not a good thing for socom.

Socom as a series was never big in emeaa. I find it funny how for the  " new " socom fans were trying to act like socom was going to sell a ton just because its america pre orers were high they assumed that it was going to be just as big as emeaa just because it had a single player, co-op, and online packaged into one game and were using the excuses if confronation hit a million with just only online than socom 4 can easily do it, and now that psn is down now all of a sudden it seems like their going to use the " online being down " as in excuse why it never sold and that it was never inteded for SP. ( even though zipper spent like what? 3-4 years into this project to lose its core base, gain new ones, and focus on its sp? )

Thats nonsense...  SOCOM isnt a big deal in  Europe, never has been really.

Who will buy it if there's no online? Even if its not a big deal, that's an important point and will probably play a role in the US nos. as well.

Not excuses as I see it, simply posters who aren't aware Socom is small in EMEAA.

Well Socom 4 opened about the same as Confrontations 2nd week, so it is low. I'm not entirely sure why, perhaps stiffer competiton on the market along with other new releases (Mortal Kombat and Portal 2) played a role.

I'm doubtful as to effect of the PSN being down hampering sales too much.

SOCOM was never very popular in Europe and with the poor reiviews I doubt many new players would be willing to give it a try.

Which is a shame. I just picked it up on Sunday against my original judgment and I have to say I couldn't be happier with the purchase. The gameplay is fun and engaging (what you'd expect/want from a stealth/tactical game), the AI is very good, the animations are well done, the bugs are minimal (in fact, I have encountered hardly any), and the graphics are a cross between Drake's Fortune & Metal Gear Solid 4.

All in all, I'd give it an 8.7. Not perfect, but definitely worth a look.

I've only palyed the Beta and it was... good. I don't hold high hopes for the single player but the Co-op looks amazing. Ill probably get it when its cheaper or when some of my old war buddies pick it up.
