Forums - General Discussion - Do people still read books anymore?

So,do people still read books anymore. I mean with all of this technology and social devices,I'm just wondering if people still take the time to read books. I personally have'nt read a book in years. When I was in the 10th grade, they made us read a book called the Time machine. I personally thought it was a great book. I just don't have the patience to sit and read a book for hours on end. It's just not a very interactive activity. I guess,I don't have a great imagination. So,anybody read any books lately?

Not really, since I entered university - with all the the textbook passages, I began to loathe reading. I've read maybe 4-5 books in the past 5 years, whereas I used to read 4-5 books in a week or 2 back in high school.

I've read 15 book so far this year. Savvy?

Well there is a book thread just a few threads below this one...

750 million...

So thats 2.5 books a year per person.

Not bad actually considering that's not the only way to read books.

I mean... i read tons of books.  Though from the library, or public domain online.

Edit 2: I do buy books too but usually only in rare cases of books I really enjoy AND can use as source matieral /things other people might find interesting.  Like the Malcolm Gladwell books and Freakanomics.

Reading books doesn't necessarily have to be something you sit and do for hours at a time.

But yes, I myself just finished a book last night.
