Forums - Sony Discussion - Why didn't Sony bring Playstation move to the PS2 ?

Playstation move has been out for over 5 months now and it did pretty well.

BUT, It could have done better. the playstation move was only released on the PS3 with an user base of 50 million with mostly "Hardcore" gamers.

over 150 million people own a Playstation 2, wich is a great system. its power is almost equal to that of the Wii and there are more "casual" gamers on it than there are on the PS3.

Move games don't require a lot of Graphical power. So it could can be a good idea for Sony to bring the Playstation Move to the PS2, Right ?

But, why don't they ?

Because Move was a direct response to Wii. That's pretty clear.

PS2 doesnt have bluetooth functionality.

But supposedly it was in development before the Wii was announced. (Don't quote me on that)

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

in one of their dev diaries, i remember them saying the actual move technology wasnt good enough back then when they tested it. even if they did make it happen, it would be much costly than it is today.

Sorry, :P.

Anyway, I've been seeing this thrown around a lot. Does anyone care to give a source?

1) Because most of those 150 million PS2s are inactive, so it's very much possible that the sales potential on the PS3 is bigger as it is a current generation console.

2) Sony's resources are limited. They have already enough trouble to support Move just on the PS3 as it is. Besides Sports Champions, what other Move games are really convincing? The PS2 doesn't offer the option to patch existing games with Move support and third parties couldn't care less to go back to PS2 development.

3) Sony wants to sell PS3s, not PS2s.

Well, for the hardcore, Killzone 3. 'nuff said.
