Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony re-building PSN

As it is posted on the Playstation Blog, they are pretty much re-building it from the ground up. I assume this will take a while to complete. How are you guys going to handle it? Me? Well, I got dissidia 012 and More trophies hidding in Yakuza 4 for me. Plus Netflix still works on my ps3.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/04/23/latest-update-for-psnqriocity-services/

We sincerely regret that PlayStation Network and Qriocity services have been suspended, and we are working around the clock to bring them both back online. Our efforts to resolve this matter involve re-building our system to further strengthen our network infrastructure. Though this task is time-consuming, we decided it was worth the time necessary to provide the system with additional security.

We thank you for your patience to date and ask for a little more while we move towards completion of this project. We will continue to give you updates as they become available.

So check out the PS blog for more news.

I got this from PSU "As a result, “Sony then shut down the PSN and [is] currently in the process of restoring backups to new servers with new admin dev accounts.” The SCEE source said Japanese servers may be restored tomorrow while the U.S. and E.U. servers will likely be operational the following day. Took way too long to solve. I would have assumed that Sony would have had stringent security as well as valid emergency recovery plans :(

Seems I was wrong.

This is Sony we're talking about, they  never have a back-up plan.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Around the Network

all i can say is this will not hurt the sales of single player games.

-sigh-

Can't wait for the network to go back up.

Also, wonder why the hackers don't go to hit a bank instead. Or a company dealing with credit card transactions. Would give them something better than hacking PSN.

You are more likely to get arrested for the first two but the latter is not that big a deal on the crime scale.

It seems the admin accounts were compromised, so it's much more than a DOS attack. It's getting serious.
