Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Loving the 3DS.

I think it makes the games more immersive.  Even on something like Lego Star Wars that doesn't really need 3D, doesn't really have an advantage with it, still seems more immerse with the effect on.

Obiously games like Ridge Racer and Pilot Wings really shine with the effect and sadly the game I wanted most, Splinter Cell, seems the least impressive of all from a 3D point of view.

But the other thing I like and the reason I would argue anyone that says movie 3D is better; glasses, even just the dark grey ones, always tint the movie darker than it should be.  To me the 3DS is just so beautiful and vibrant without the glasses dimming the picture.

Also the analog nub is pure heaven for a portable.  My one complaint about the DS (besides the fact that I don't like stylus control) is that nubby little d-pad that wore my fingers raw.  Playing Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded on the 3DS and its a compfortable as it could be.

And as far as the stylus thing goes, after using an ipod touch for a while now, I decided to ditch the stylus completely and just use my fingers on the 3DS.  I never did that with regular DS but I wish I had.  I don't care if it gets smudgy,  you can clean that up, and it makes going from face buttons to touch screen flawlessly easy and fluid.

And I know its stupid but... the Activity Log is freaking brilliant.  I think every game system ever now should have that built in.

So... thumbs up Nintendo!

I think it's great too.

One of the best features is the fact that the 3D is fully adjustable in real time.  Pilotwings, for example, is a bit too straining on my eyes with the 3D turned up to the max.  But at 1/4 to 1/2 of the way up it looks perfect to me; still in 3D and my eyes can easily focus on foreground and background objects.

If you had to back out of the game to adjust or turn off the 3D it would have been a major issue, but this simple feature makes it hugely accessible to anyone.

The only negative is the short battery life, but it's not really an issue for me personally.  However, once Ocarina comes out will really test how much of a detriment this is to me, since I'll never stop playing it.

Once Mario Kart 3DS, Super Mario 3DS, and Animal Crossing are released then I will definitely think about getting a 3DS.  As of right now there aren't any games I really want so I will wait.

I'm also loving my 3DS! If you dig turn-based games definitely check out Shadow Wars. My fave launch game!

I'm enjoying mine, but haven't played it that much yet. Still chugging through Pokemon Black and Elite Beat Agents.

Love and tolerate.

Ghost Recon has really awful graphics but with 3D on it looks so deep and immersive...3D is truly important for gaming, will surely become a standard!

CURRENTLY PLAYING: Xenoblade (Wii), Super mario 3D land (3DS), Guild Wars (PC)

Love mine too, even if I use it has a DS...

NEVER has a Nintendo handled been so subject to criticism : not region free (and yeah, I played a LOT of japanese / usa games on DS), battery is a mess and it still doesnt have any real game... and it's expensive too.

And to ad to that, most people can't/ don't make a difference with original DS : the look is too close, and most sites would just ad 3DS as a sub-category of DS. If I look for 3DS games / info, either I found DS and 3DS infos melte... where s the visibility in that ???

Neither Wii nor PS3, altough compatible with GC and PS2 got that bad of a treatment !

3DS deserves more love.

nice to see a thread which accepts the many merits of the 3DS for once

Now the price is down to £175 on Amazon I should be ordering next week... I'm selling my DSi and some games for about £130, and have scored a cheap copy of Pilotwings, so I figure I may as well jump before hardware prices push up again in the UK.
