Forums - PC Discussion - Fable III to launch on Steam and GFWL

The PC version of Lionhead role-playing game Fable III will launch on Steam and Games for Windows Live, Microsoft has announced.

Pre-orders begin today. Those who do so through GFWL receive Fable: Lost Chapters for free.

Those who pre-order through Steam get the Rebel's Weapon & Tattoo Pack, a collection of four weapons and five tattoo sets.

The game goes on sale on 20th May digitally and in shops. All three versions include the game add-ons released for the Xbox 360 version, as well the new hardcore mode and 3D functionality.

Other areas altered for the May release include a redesigned user interface that feels "a little bit more mouse-specific". Lionhead has also eradicated a number of Fable III bugs and lowered the item collection requirements for Achievements.

"Our hope is that people who pick up [Fable III] on PC think, 'Okay, this plays how I would expect it to play, it doesn't play like a half-done port,' which is the danger for PC games," lead designer Josh Atkins has said.

having it on Steam is good enough, but it would be even funnier if it was Steamworks-enabled :D

It's on steam! Ye god! But it's also got SecuROM with a maximum of 5 install so it's still :(

Stick with The Witcher 2 guys, say no to DRM!

wait, can you already see it on Steam?! if so, it's regionally restricted, because I can't fucking see it. :(

forget it, it's fine: http://store.steampowered.com/app/6720/

it's just not listed yet

I might get it even tho it does have securom. It is only limited to 5 activations per month and i doubt i will be reinstsalling it that much. I just hate the ones that have a 5 limit and thats it.

Wow, This is pretty huge!

why did they wait to release it on steam?

But Fable 3 was reguarded as an terrible game. One of the worst fables out of the 3

Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong

Steam is the largest digital distribution service for PC games so this greatly increases sales potential. Also, to use the game people have to install GFWL.

MS has a smart strategy in my opinion. They aren't ignoring their biggest competition. They are using it as a way to get more people on GFWL.

However, GFWL still needs improvements on the interface. I thought the Fable 3 launch would be the perfect time to do it, but I'm doubting they will.

It would also be nice if they let people outside their 35 supported countries play online but they are pretty slow adding new countries...

Thos I guess by releasing it on steam I will noe have the opertunity to buy a digital copy as the GFW online store doesn't accept my debet card as it's not from one of the supported countries aparently even tho they say NZ is supported...

Check out my hype threads: Cyberpunk, and The Witcher 3!

Good news hopefully MS cooperates more with Valve.

It's just that simple.
