It usually can't, which is why you won't see much of a difference.

higher screen resolutions will need biger screens to be noticeble on the avarage 8 to 10 foot distance from our TV...

But this is monitor which is watched less than 1 meter away. 30 inch screen from 2 meter distance is exactly as big to human eyes 15 inch from 1 meter. So if you watch this screen from normal viewing distance (2.5-3 meters) resolution is completely wasted. You can't even in theory see difference to normal 1080p TV's, that would require minimum 50 inches.

i have a 60 inch high def 3d plasma with a sony playstation 3 so anything over 1080p would work since its 60 inch :)

Well beyond 1080p might be nice for my home cinema....

I don't think there's need to go much higher - but I do think there are benefits on going beyong 1080p.

Its interesting to think about for sure...you really don't need TVs greater than under 50 inches to have anything higher than 1080p.

However for larget screen, one can already go well beyond 1080p.

I am currently in the early stages of buying a house. I am also in the early stages of putting together in designing a home theater room which will have 120 inch screen with 3240x1920 display resolution using projector(s).

i want to keep my 1080p and focus on 60hz, draw distance, loading times, scope of environments, physics....
