I mean, how many games are there coming out for the HD consoles in May onwards? I can count but a few...they'll be a drought for all consoles.

PS3 Exclusives (Not all confirmed for '11) -

Uncharted 3
Resistance 3
Twisted Metal
Team ICO Collection
The Last Guardian
inFamous 2
Agent
Final Fantasy Versus XIII

360 Exclusives (Not all confirmed for '11) -

Gears 3
Xcom
Forza 4
Codename Kingdoms
Project Draco
Star Wars Kinect
Steel Batallion
Codename D (Suda 51)

PS360 Multiplats -

Call of Duty Whatever
Skyrim
Mass Effect 3
Batman Arkham City
Final Fantasy XIII-2
Metal Gear Solid Rising
Battlefield 3
RAGE
Prototype 2
Bioshock Infinite
Brink

Those are all off the top of my head so... Yeah, you're wrong, and it's not even E3 yet

For April:

Wii:

Conduit 2

PS3:

Portal 2

Mortal Kombat

360:

Portal 2

Mortal Kombat

On this list that I care about?  Portal 2

May:

3DS:

Dead or Alive

All consoles LEGO PotC

PS3 & 360 :

LA Noire

On that list that I care about?  LEGO Pirates on 3DS

June:

Wii:

Wii Play: Motion

PS3:

inFamous 2

PS3 & 360:

Shadows of the damned

PS3, 360, PCl:

Alice, Duke

3DS:

Resident Evil

OoT

Games I actually care about?  RE, OoT, and Shadows of the damned.

So there's like 2 PS3 and 360 titles that I'm interested in for the next couple of months... one of which I'm only getting on PS3 cause it comes with a PC copy of the game...

Conduit 2 and Wii Play Motion are maybes so there's two Wii titles... amazing most of my focus is on 3DS since dead or alive is another maybe for me...

It's a typical summer drought, the games I've listed will likely interest a decent section, be it casual or core or niche, it'll appeal to the vocal ones that get online

There's just not that many notable games cause you know... it's getting closer and closer to summer... E3 is always quiet for releases...  Even then the releases coming out aren't for everyone...

MaxwellGT2000 - "Does the amount of times you beat it count towards how hardcore you are?"

Wow. You are dead wrong sir. You are grasping at straws now lol. Accept it, Nintendo is in a severe drought. There are 0 quality games coming out. Luckily, a new system is likely to be announced, but that does not change the fact 0 good games for the wii are coming out anytime soon.

Good HD console games

Battlefield 3 (November)

UC3 (November)

Twisted Metal (October)

Socom 4 (BAD GAME)

La Noire (May)

Portal 2 (April)

Infamous 2 (June)

Gears 3 (November)

Resistance 3 (September)

Forza 4 (October)

and so many more.

Nobody is saying that there is drought for the next quarters in the HD front, but for Q2 there are not many great games coming out, specially exclusives.

@Conegamer.

I said drop in the ocean as in there are many more games releasing/to be revealed, not just the ones I named.

Surely it's the same thig for the Wii though?

Who knows what will be announced at E3...and only Portal 2 and Mortal Kombat that I can think of are coming out this quarter for the HD consoles...the Wii has Wii Play:Motion and Conduit 2, so they all have some big games, it's just people decide to ignore that and pick on Nintendo due to its party games. Which is unfair.

Just speaking in general there

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

@conegamer  good move on serving MS, seriously kinda funny. TO be fair there was a thread or 2 about MS' lack of 3rd party support, howevever. We expect much more from Ninty than MS (at least i do) especially when it comes to 1st party. Its kind of understood that MS 1st party isnt all that. Sony is the only one kicking ass this year. But dont worry they are going to have a drought next year for PS3 while they support their NGp if they dont then they are trully monsters among men

Oh yeah, I'm well aware of that.

But the problem isn't just for Nintendo, even if it is the worst...

I mean, how many games are there coming out for the HD consoles in May onwards? I can count but a few...they'll be a drought for all consoles.

And like someone said, you can't expect a Mario Galaxy or Metroid Prime EVERY MONTH. That's not the way Nintendo works

oh hell no.... :D you need to check the line up again...there is NO drought for ms or sony..at all

For me, this year, we have had:

360- Nothing. Coming up- Gears 3, Portal 2

Wii- Nothing. Coming up- Conduit 2, Skyward Sword, Xenoblade, The Last Story, maybe Pandora's Tower

PS3- Little Big Planet 2, maybe Killzone 3. Coming up- Uncharted 3.

So I know which one has the most games I want coming up anyway

sure but that's not what you said now is it...which is a blatent lie to say the least. There will be NO drought for HD consoles no matter how you say it. Carl did a good job listing some of the more known games...if you add XBL and PSN games (there are some real gems like Jounrney coming up, new games not rehashed versions of older games)...so no..there is something for everyone...

True, but it's the same for all consoles. We're talking about Q2 ONLY, so UP TO JUNE, ONLY.

And as others have already said, there's only a couple big games for each console in Q2. It's a summer drought, it happens for all consoles.

Oh, you can add Carnival Games to the 360 list if you'd like. We aren't gonna buy it, but it'll still be a million-seller. So just because the games will sell millions, doesn't mean they're good games, SOCOM 4 is an example of this if reviews are correct.

Hey, I never said the Wii was having the drought, you did

I argued in one of the threads that the Wii isn't having a drought at all. Nintendo and 3rd parties are just catering to the userbase that's there...

I don't know how you can think that the Wii, which only has two notable games to your recollection in Q2 can be in the same situation as the HD consoles.

After April which had Mortal Kombat and Portal 2 the notable games in Q2 that will release on HD consoles are: L.A. Noire, Witcher 2, and Brink in May as well as Infamous 2, Alice: Madness Returns, and El Shaddai in June.  That's 6 notable games on HD consoles (I even cut a lot out like Fear 3 and Hunted: The Demon's Forge) in those two months compared to one controller tie in game on Wii.  The situations are not nearly the same.  You can say "well it only has ____ games if you're saying a platform has a drought it shouldn't be dependent on your taste in games but just how many notable games in general are releasing on the platform, and in that measure the HD consoles are completely different from the Wii in Q2.

I don't agree with that at all.

A game I'm not interested in is a game I'm not interested in. It doesn't matter if it's any of the 6 games you've listed or any of the games on the Wii's Q2 list, I'd look upon them all with the same disdain whereas this seems to be descending into a debate about personally uninteresting hardcore games being somehow superior to personally uninteresting casual games, when the type of game (in the hardcore/casual sense) is irrelevant if I'm not buying anything either way.

As it is right now, I've not bought a retail game this year on any platform, and of all the upcoming games I'm only interested in two games over all platforms between now and September. So if I buy those two that'll represent two purchases in the first 8 months of the year on all platforms, and you're going to tell me I'm not experiencing a drought just because there's a few 'notable' releases? Just try it.

VGChartz

I think we might have a definition problem.

Drought = not enough rain falling in a certain length of time to meet X criteria.

Drought != I have/don't have enough water in my tank, I care/don't care if it rains.

But that's a ridiculous standard for a statement like "____ is having a software drought".  A similar statement would be like me saying "the Wii has no worthwhile games" because none of the games fit my tastes.  If I go into a thread and say that I know for a fact that every Ninty fan will give me big lists of every game they can think of to prove I'm wrong, I'm just doing the same thing here.  "HD Consoles have a drought in Q2 just like the Wii does", I call BS on that statement based on the list of games I just put up just like someone arguing against "The Wii has no games".  Now if you want to say "HD consoles have no games I want in Q2" that's fine, but "HD consoles have no games in Q2" is a different statement that I will argue against.

...

We are satisfied with the wii library, we are reliefed for not having to consider buying new games recently. But we also like to trash 3rd parties for releasing cheap spin offs and not real games that we don't want anyway.
