Forums - Nintendo Discussion - As a Nintendo fan I feel relief with the current drought.

excuses, I have never seen fans make as many as Nintendo fans do. There are freaking 87 million users, I doubt most of them has that backlog, they have different taste, you can't just spend months ignoring the consoles. Adding insult, you have fans defending this shit.

Go tell that to the Japanese people who buying less than 8k right now, this is the console leader, you can't take breaks.

I couldn't care less about the userbase. I couldn't care less about Japan sales. I couldn't care less about Wii sales in fact, beyond wanting a company that makes me happy to be rewarded.

All I really care about is me. And MY point is, I totally agree with the sentiment of the OP. I am not in denial, I am not defending anyone, I just couldn't care less if new games for my taste come out right now or not because as it is I have a serious backlog, and no, it is not a backlog of Lair like games. I just don't have the time I thought (hoped) I would have, and have even stopped buying Wii games I still would like to play (of which I have a failry long list) because of that, unless they are in a serious bargain price and one step from being unfindable.

Yes there is somewhat an exception to that rule, the 3DS, but I will be playing it in very different circumstances (e.g. late at night in bed, something I can't do with a console), and between Ghost Recon and a plethora of DS games I have never played (since I haven't had a DS) such as 999 which I also bought I am set until (and well after) OOT comes out...

Where the heck are you getting that from?  Last week was not 8k in hardware and ten times that in software... psrock I really don't know why you're taking such offense to a thread not negative and you have to insist everyone needs to be negative, we get it you like to make these statements cause you've got something to prove, other people have their own views, personally I own all the current consoles, there's a bit of a drought in games I want no matter the console, last game I REALLY wanted on home consoles was LBP2, and that was in Jan... it's been 3 months since then... does that mean I'm negative and whing about PS3? Am I whining about 360?  Am I whining about Wii?

No I'm using this time to catch up on my gaming and play my portables... and using the money to flesh out my classic games collection.

Seriously different strokes for different folks, it's mighty funny the demographic wanting to whine about other consoles, just as you're suspect of "Nintendo fans" motives many would be suspect of your motives... just saying >_>

I don't know I did get some older games for the ds that I missed earlier but I would rather be playing the new Zelda than anything I by passed. They were passed for a reason which was that there was something better available now that there's nothing I have to go back to the second rate game I passed by.

While I agree with the OP, my backlog is not that big, I normally play 2-3 hours every other day and several hours when I am off (not all the time, but still) I havent got enough pokemons yet, and the conduit 2 is just around the corner... Probably I am going to use this time to play metroid the other m for a second time (I know some people hate it, but I love it) and probably a good round of no more heroes2... I really like beating games 2 or 3 times just for the fun of it, so probably I'll be going back to some of them... The only thing that I missed was a confirmation for xenoblade and the last story, actually thats the reason I think for all the hate, as long as we get it I dont really mind, hoping for a fall release...

We shouldn't be excusing the drought just because it might benefit us personally. The fact remains that a console that has 86 milion users should not be receiving this few games, and the blame is on Nintendo just as much as it is on third parties.

Sure, if we're speaking personally, I am sort of relieved, because I simply do not have the money to buy more games right now, and I have plenty of games to catch up on that I already own. Though obviously this is not the case for everyone, and Nintendo is risking pissing off a lot of Wii gamers, or at least cause them to move on to other consoles. However, I am confident that E3 will change this, much like last year.

Well, since there's over 10 games I want for the Wii alone...yes, I'm happy. It also means I'm not buying new games just before exams...

I've mentioned this earlier, but it's nice to have some good, solid, logical opinions on this sort of thing for once. Doom is nice, but it's time for a break from it me thinks.

Does this mean the whole drought thing is over for good now? Can we be quiet about it and just, I dunno, move on?

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

The trouble is this drought coincides with a drought of interesting games to me on the PS3 as well. I've never been a major FPS fan but the major releases this year have been Crysis, Bulletstorm, Homefront, Killzone and LBP. So LBP aside (which I don't think is cheap enough to warrant a purchase yet), practically all FPS on PS3 plus limited Wii release schedule plus not much of a backlog equals milky not getting much playtime lately.

And there's not much in the next few months either, and not just for the Wii. I was supposed to be holding out till later this year for a 3DS but I may just crack if LA Noire (which is the only imminently releasing game I'm looking forward to on any platform) doesn't turn out to be all that...

I'm just waiting for inFamous 2 (not a must have but I'll buy it and enjoy it), Gears of War 3, Uncharted 3, Batman Arkham City, and Metal Gear Rising.  Aside from that, every game out there is just filler.  I don't get the people in this thread that think we are somehow lying to ourselves about games.  Maybe, just maybe, there's the possibility that some of us own a lot of good games that we want to play and finish but couldn't due to a lack of time, a lot of money, and lots of good games on the market.

Last week, I went back and played Shadow Complex, Call of Duty BLOPs, Super Street Fighter 4, and Valkyria Chronicles (I know this is a Nintendo thread.....sorry, guys.).  I played them because these were great games that didn't get the time they deserved due to their being so many good games coming out.  I can finally finish AC2 and prepare to purchase AC Brotherhood, this week.  I finally have some breathing room.  Maybe it's bad for the industry but as a fan of video games and as a person that wants to experience everything and still get my money's worth from the games I do have,it's great for me!  I'm not in denial.  I'm happy.

What's good out there? What games are in your backlogs?

Ok, to clear things up, for ME backlog are games that I HAVE but haven't finished or played, taking that into account my backlog is:

Epic Mickey (not started)

Donkey Kong Country Returns (not started)

Trauma Team (not started)

NBA Jam (not finished)

Little's King Story (not finished)

Monster Hunter Tri (not finished)

Resident Evil Darkside Chronicles (not finished)

Arc Rise Fantasia (not started)

Kirby's Epic Yarn (not finished)

and one that is borrowed Mini Ninjas

I have 2 games pending to buy (conduit 2 next week and Sonic Colors when it reaches 20 dollars). Those should be more than enough to cover any kind of drought even if it last 6 or 7 more months. I just don't have enough free time I have a job and a wife, I cannot spend more time playing, and I can't understand when people complain because they don't have anything new to buy and/or play every week.

Thanks for that. RE Dark Side and Arc Rise Fantasia I will get (as well as conduit2, I'll skip the first)

In regards to the OP he (and others) is making the best of the situation and there is nothing wrong with that. Of course in an ideal world anyone would like game releases more frequently.

This hasn't happened so rather than moan and groan he is taking the positives from it and I totally agree with him.

At the PS2's peak I had a half-shelf of games I never ever got around to playing because games I wanted kept coming "every week" and I also kept picking up games I missed on the cheap. In the end the PS2 was given away with all the games because I knew I would never get the chance to play them.

Now with work and everything else I now find myself in the same situation with the PS3. The backlog has built up and the time to play them all is constantly shrinking.

So now I decide to catch up on some wii games, hopefully  the short and sweet ones that suit me more right now.

If the PS3 was to drought on games I would see it the same way as the OP did.

And I agree with you, flagstaad. It is difficult to squeeze in gaming when you work, have a wife and a social life.

I fooled myself into thinking I could do it all.
