Forums - Nintendo Discussion - As a Nintendo fan I feel relief with the current drought.

I feel it.  I have a huge library spanning all of the consoles.  There's not really any must haves on any of the consoles (for me) at the moment.  It feels good to just look at the games I already own and just have fun without worrying about finishing the next big thing before the next next big thing comes out.  I am finally at peace.

I agree 100% nothing I've been super excited about has come out lately even though I've bought a couple of things I just wanted for the sake of my collection.  Basically this year has been Pokemon and LBP2... the big games I want this year are the OoT remake and Skyward Sword.

Exactly! I've been finding deals on all the old games I never got the first time, going through my favorites again, and generally having a blast while not spending $60 on the newest hype-fest this week that'll last 10 hours until the next hypefest drops. It's fun to be playing games. Just finished Windwaker again, and now I'm trying to get through all the damn temples in DKCR ( if i don't break all of my wiimotes in frustration first!)

A thousand times THIS!

....i recently bought Hotel Dusk, Chronno Trigger and Ace Attorney: TT for 45 bucks and i'm having a BLAST on my 3DS (yeah i know they're not in 3D but i've never had a DS so ALL the games are new to me)

The two games I mentioned in the first post Pokemon Ranger (17)and Prof Layton(10) The deals on games even in the pond shops are nice for those games you want to try but havent whether that was because of the price, or just didnt have a chance. A bit longer all these DS games will be able to be found and a lot of times at bargin prices because of the 3DS coming out.

Agreed completely. I still have games right now I picked up or got over the holidays that I have yet to complete. My list of imcomplete back catalog titles along with the few new ones I got over the holidays are overwhelming not to mention the games I still play online such as MKWii, the COD games and Conduit.....

Thinking of it like that... I totally agree with the OP! I have lots and lots of games on my shelf, which I haven't even touched yet. So I personally don't care about the drought.

I still haven't beaten all of my Gamecube, PS2, and GBA games. Or even all my PS1 and N64 games. Combine that with DS, Wii, 360, PSP, and PC games I haven't beaten, and I have this "drought" time covered.

Exactly! Even if all companies stopped to produce new games today, I'd have enough games from the last few generations to keep me busy a few years.

When I was younger I had lots of time to play, but not enough money to buy all the games I wanted. Today I can buy lots of games (especially used games for older consoles are dirt cheap now), but don't have enough time. :(

Need something off Play-Asia? http://www.play-asia.com/

Amazed so many people agree with this sentiment. Smacks of denial to me. Why can't you just shortlist and pick the very best for you? If there's a consistent stream of amazing games and you can't afford/don't have time for them all then you just prioritise. That way you don't attempt to justify denying others consistent new releases.

I'm not sure I get your drift. Seriously, I haven't even played a Professor Layton game ( Iknow!) because I'm just not the guy who has all the time in the world. Sometimes having a slow release period gives me the chance to catch up. If you are the type of person who has time and money to play every new game for every console when they come out, than good for you and I'm very jealous, but I'm sure you are the minority.

Of course I would love a new triple game to play every month or so, but we are just looking at the bright side of the "drought" and enjoying the multitude of great games out there.

Lighten up. You probably understood us wrong. I and probably all the others thinking like the OP don't try to justify denying you a lot of new releases. It's just that we personally don't mind the drought that much.

I realize of course that a consistent stream of new and good releases would be better for the console, there's no point in denying that.

I wrote a really long and mean rant about Nintendo fans, but I thought better of it and deleted it, I'm getting too nice.

OP: Good job at finding the light in a dark time, it means your a positive person. I'd also recommend that people in this thread should either play more games or just buy less. You also don't have to finish every game you buy. I have Lair, Haze, Legendary, Red Dead Redemption and GTA4 in my backlog, but I'm not forcing myself to finish them, mainly because they already failed at keeping my attention long enough to finish the game.

I'm a busy guy and I'm able to finish a game a week, that's four new releases a month and that also takes into account that I don't play games I don't want to play. New releases are important to me, I'd be pissed off if I had a month of nothing to play except for year old games that may or may not be good. If I didn't play it last year, then it's likely because I wasn't really that interested in playing it.

I also agree with Machinima, but thats all I'll say about that.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

excuses, I have never seen fans make as many as Nintendo fans do. There are freaking 87 million users, I doubt most of them has that backlog, they have different taste, you can't just spend months ignoring the consoles. Adding insult, you have fans defending this shit.

Go tell that to the Japanese people who buying less than 8k right now, this is the console leader, you can't take breaks.

Ah I see the negative train has arrived in a otherwise nice little thread looking at it a different way than you. I will help point you in the right direction if you wish to be negative on what some people are finding a bit of postive in. --------> http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=127188&page=8&str=344136252#7
