Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Apparently 3DS gets it's first million seller!

It'll take much longer for it to actually get to the hands of 1m consumers... meh. Got me excited for nothing.

This is just wrong, as they had quite a few geniune million sellers on the Wii, but they spun those to be not worth following up, save for one game that they gave as an excuse to give up after it didn't sell as well.

But here, they don't even sell half their shipment (unless the sales of the game were 200K in the time of our last sales listing and this release), and they try to spin it as a platinum hit already.*

It's the same lying about sales the systems third parties like versus what sales on systems they don't like. Yet this time, it's likely going to create a clearance rush from retailers, and they will not be happy over this demand overestimation.

* Note I wrote "already", which only means it hasn't happed yet, not me claiming it won't.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

Hmmmm... 1m shipped and ~0.3m sold to customers? Someone is not doing their job right:

1. Capcom overshipped

2. Retailers ordered too much

3. Vgchartz / Mediacreate / Famitsu undertracked

I think option 3 is the most likely ...

At the launch of a videogame system people (tend to) gravitate towards a handful of titles, and it isn't uncommon for a single game to sell to 1/3 to 1/2 of the userbase. While it is possible that retailers have a significant supply of units knowing that many of these launch games will sell (fairly) well for the next few months, I would doubt that they would have (roughly) 700,000 units on store shelves.

Or 4. Launch titles can often be expected to sell for a while through launch.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

Shipped? What is this, Sony? Come back when the actual sales are this.

Shipped numbers are much more important than sell-through. Publishers don't give a shit about sell-through numbers as they already made their bucks with the shipments.

Also, you need anger management.

The only thing that surprises me about this PR is that it claims Megaman Legends 3 as an ANNOUNCED title. I thought that game hadn't even been "green lit" yet?

EDIT: Maybe I'm reading too much into the word "announced." Still it being included in this piece of official PR gives me hope that it will see the light of day.

Does this mean the 3DS is being compared to the PS3 in another thing now?

The huge shipped/sold debate?

I lol'd

Retailers brought too much, kinda like how there are 2 million copies of MvC3 shipped, expect price reductions on both titles very soon

The 3DS version will end up being the best selling one of SSFIV.

pwin´ every other villain since 1994

Someone should compare the responses of this thread to the White Knight Chronicles series one and out those double standards.
