Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Capcom's Wii Support

come on the wii got tsatsunoko vs capcom and mh trii. thats more then enough.

That's 2 games. Two.

Granted, i spent 200 hours on Monster Hunter Tri, and that's on the low-end of many of the more avid Hunters hereabouts, but that's still only two games.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Capcom, lol. Are these the guys that put SF4 on the iphone and that other system renowned for it's fighters, the PC, instead of the console responsible for the biggest selling fighting game ever? Whoever made that decision should be fired. Tatsunoko haha, Wii owners aren't even allowed some familiar characters from Marvel. Good job I'm a Tekken guy and the only thing I want from Capcom is a new Ghouls n Ghosts.

It's a sad day when the guys who made Street Fighter created the fighting genre can't even compete with one of Nintendo's B-listers. Same goes for Tekken, Soul Calibur and Mortal Kombat. Are they scared of going up against Brawl or do they only work in HD or something? Funny, I remember when Mortal Kombat would happily whore itself out to every possible last gen system available.

ah come on they wouldn't sell anywhere near the HD versions. Brawl is totally different from other fighting games, just like Mario Kart is different from every kind of HD racer.

I think you underestimate how many old school/lapsed gamers their are on Wii. The gamers that made the first 2.5d Donkey Kong, the first Mario Kart and continued the success of 2D Mario are the same ones who did the same for the original Street Fighter and MK. Even ignoring Brawl, the fact that SF went back to 2D means it could easily have beat the paltry 3M the HD consoles cobbled together.

Their is plenty of room for another arcade racer on Wii. It won't do Mario Kart's numbers but few games do. Diddy Kong did fine on the N64 and I remember Street Racer doing fine on the SNES. Considering how much everyone jumped on the Wii Fit and CoD/FPS bandwagon, I think nobody capitalising on Mario Kart Wii's success is a travesty.

EDIT: I think you also underestimate how 'casual' both Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat were originally. The SNES version singlehandedly doubled the combined HD remakes.

You can easily find Capcom's problem when you look at their highest sellers on the console (RE4 and MH3) and look at what else came from them. They started building an audience with RE4 and then let them down with whatever they spat out after that. Their lucky MH3 sold as well as it did.

The same happened with Activision and the COD series. When you introduce games to an audience and then don't follow up on them, you lose that audience. Activision is lucky that Modern Warfare sold over a million and Black ops is on it's way to the million mark as well. The way Wii gamers have been jerked around on that series it's no wonder the games haven't had a growing following. COD3 sold 2 million so far and since then sales have been decent but not getting any better when they COULD be going up.

Shame what companies like these do to the WIi audience, it's as if they don't want their games to have a following on the console or something.

That was actually Infinity Ward not doing enough for the engine on the Wii (or couldn't, but who knows), so the breakthrough game for the series came too late. But CoD is the most consistent selling "AAA" series on the Wii, because it's the most consistently released.

BTW, SF IV is having worse legs in Japan than on the home systems, so that comment before is not a counter to mine.

Bionic Commando Rearmed 2

DmC

aahhh yes though BC Rearmed 2 is already available.

thank you

Dragon's Dogma has been confirmed by someone at GAF to be another HD game, we'll find out tomorrow.

Also, Tekken x Street Fighter, different form Street Fighter x Tekken, and they are both co-productions, even though one company has more say in one project than the other and vice versa.

My issue is that Lost Planet 2, Dark Void and Bionic Commando failed and they still make alot of HD-games, but they abandon Wii because Spyborgs and Darkside Chronicles sells badly when people pretty much told them they weren't interested in them from the moment they were announced. They also lied and told us RE4 and Umbrella Chronicles were tests that would lead to more Resident Evil. It was also a punch in the face when they claimed Wii didn't have enough power or buttons to make Street Fighter 4, but iPhone apparently did

Geez, get over it. You act like Capcom is the only company that gave up on the Wii. Just be happy they gave you some of the best core titles you'll find in the Wii's library.

Have you actually seen SF4 on the iPhone? Its a pre-rendered 2D fighter and its missing a lot of content. Is that what you want on the Wii? Also, the iPhone has as many buttons as you want, its a touch screen. The WiiMote sure as hell isn't the ideal fighting controller and I'm sure Nintendo forces developers to make all games support the Wiimote.

1. What makes you think we aren't pissed at the other companies that did that?

2. The iPhone isn't really a gaming machine, despite how much companies want it to be. The Wii would just make it look like SF IV, at the level of TvC.

1. Like I said, get over it. Capcom isn't the only publisher that decided Wii isn't worthwhile for them.

2. Even if its not a gaming machine It apparently does a damn good job selling games. Not particularly good games, but they sell.

Wii didn't get SFIV, get over it. If you choose to not buy a HD console get used missing a lot of great games.

And Capcom is one of many who decided Wii is not worthwhile for them.

yeah but the HUGE difference is that Donkey Kong and Mario are Nintendo franchises and the others are not. Street Fighter and MK have splitted their fan bases a loooong time ago.

If so why didn't Goldeneye or any other FPS (CoD) on the Wii sell as good as Goldeneye on the N64 ? Probably the most successful console for FPS at that time. Simply because the fanbase went elsewhere and this is also true for Beat'em Up and Racing fans that don't involve Nintendo characters.

I'd agree if the Wii was a direct successor to the SNES, but it's not, not even close.

Would they sell decently on Wii ? pretty sure yes, but none of them would beat their PS3 or 360 counterpart.
