Forums - Nintendo Discussion - How sad is this? (Wii related)

I think this period is perfect to start buying backlog games or just cheap bargains. I'm currently dwelling into the music games, can see buying some more in the future.

Y'know, the more I think about it, the more this is reminding me of the final say 18mths of the GC.   Vertually nothing coming out except for the much talked about Zelda.

When Wii finally came out, low and behold it had a pretty decent line up of games for the first year, although a lot felt like ported GC games - Zelda, Mario Strikers Charged, Pokemon Colosseum (just the battle mode of a GC game with online attached), Battalion Wars 2, Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn....

We'll have a clearer picture come E3 if this drought is for this same reason.   And frankly if all we get for 2011 is already released Japanese games (Xeno, Last Story, Kirby, Pandora) and maybe Zelda, truth is, we're still in a drought.

-shrugs- I guess. I mean, I have a huge backlog of games to complete, so this "drought" really isn't bothering me that much.

hmm...seem to recall getting pretty frustrated with every nintendo console since the snes during it's final year or 2 (didn't own an nes 'til later so can't comment on that one) so this is nothing new to me. They're lucky I'm patient (and own other consoles to keep my mind off it hehe).

I can't complain...At all.  I have so many games right now that I can't put the time required into them all and now that I have 3DS, that opens a whole other can 'o worms.  I'm 160 hours into Monster Hunter and have barely scratched the surface, over 9 days played in Blk Ops and with no end to that in sight (unless Conduit turns out to be a worthy adversary).  I barely have any time into Other M or NSMBW, and I don't even have Galaxy 2 or DKCR yet.   I just don't see how people can not have the same problem I have with the incredible amount of content out there already.

Wii is far from dead, that i'm sure of.  There's stuff coming down the pike, just that if you want quality content you can;t expect it to come in the form of a new title every 2-3 weeks.

It think now is the perfect time to enjoy Wii games from 2010 :) Last year there were many great games for the Wii (blockbuster and hidden gems).

On the other side this year we will get a bunch of great games to, bit almost all from nintendo: Xenoblade, Zelda, The Last Story, Pikmin 3, Pandoras Tower, Fatal Frame 5 and the new wii unannounced games Nintendo promised.

Eart Seeker, Conduit 2, Rodea, Rune Factory: Oceans, Dragon Quest X, etc. from the third parties.

Surely the wii has more than 6 games released in 2011? I thought the console usually gets a ton of shovelware & casual games...

Also, when compared to the 360/ps3 list, you can see just how much the industy has abandoned the console.

Abandoned? Hardly. Ignoring? Prolly.

Of note Tiger Woods: Masters and WWE All Stars have also come out.

Of no note: The usual assortment of shovelware but no one bothers to review those so they don't show up on Metacritic.

I'm quite content, really. If anything i'm debating whether to get Conduit 2 because i might not have time to play it (really want to focus on Pokemon White from here on out, but i enjoyed what Conduit 1 had to offer and would like to play a version of that game that didn't have crippling matchmaking issues), and then the early 3DS lineup. Sometime in summer we should see Xenoblade, and i'm thinking fall for The Last Story, Kirby, Zelda, and then the 3DS will really start to pick up steam

I also skipped Okamiden, so there's that too...

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
