It's Nintendo. That's not what it will be.

His statement describes the 3DS with almost 100% accuracy... don't count it out.

No. It doesn't.

The 3DS isn't even cutting edge powerful. It has a bunch of new hardware features (gyroscope and all that) and it has its new hook (3D).

Nintendo put the price higher because a few years after Wii launched, they said they wished they had priced it at $300 because it would have sold the same.

It's laughable how many people are complaining because Nintendo dared to put some power under one of its console's hood.

Aside from the 3D, it's 100% DS with more power and a universal friend code. And the 3D isn't even a necessity for its games, making little difference.

Like it or not, it's a more advanced DS. Not that it's a bad thing, eh?

That's the same with practically every system ever released. More pwoerful version of the last one with more features.

But we're talking Nintendo. And Nintendo went from major innovation (DS, Wii) that are very much unlike their predecessors to putting out the almost exact same with 3DS.

this is my post from a similar thread:

"you guys are all going about it backwards. this is Nintendo, not Sony.

Lets assume it'll cost about $300, okay? that means It'll have the best PC $150 can buy at time of launch (cost to manufacturer, of course), and an additional $100 of desruptive features that nobody else has done yet. That leaves $50 for profit split between Nintendo, shipping companies and retailers.

Now go figure out the specs of the machine...

edit: this machine here is $300 (cost to consumer) as of now. Profit margins are probably slim, but it's reasonable to assume it'll be around $150 to manufacture by holiday 2012-spring 2013."

This is good logic Gumby. This certainly seems to be how Nintendo works. The only questions is what will those $100 worth of "desruptive features" be?

If Nintendo come out with 1080p on it's next console, Nintendo will lose the third parties when both Sony and maybe Mircosoft release a new console with 4k HD, Nintendo will never regain full third party support again like in the days of Super Nes, so they need to build or buy a second party developer to clone popular games (like rareware do).

Are you planning on spending $10,000 on a brand new 4K 120Hz 3D HDTV?

or will that come bundled with an extra controller like Wii Play was?

Keep it simple.Dont add a ton of features just to add them (Dont try to be a all in one just be a gaming system).

Keep it under $300. Kinda goes with above statment.

Launch with a couple nice 1st party games. Doesnt have to be the biggest hitters, but some games big enough that push the hardware.Ill never buy a Nintendo system just for a 3rd party game. Well maybe Dragon Quest and  a really awesome Sega game.

Have game demos for new concepts. Make a central store. (The handheld shop should also be on the Home system).

Do what you want with online multiplayer stuff, I dont much care.

Catering to the third parties is a waste of  time and money. They need to learn they are to come to us not us go to where they are.

Do really think that Sony's next console will be 1080p when they need to sell there new 4k TV's.

Personaly Id just Expand Nintendo's Software capacity,   As fastes  as it can bear withought losing control. If Nintendo thinks it can compeat with Sony and MS for 3rd party support on the home consule stage I think they are heading for a disapointment.

If Nintendo can grow studio's to the point it can support its own consule all by itself.  They Win.

No they didn't.

3D is to 3DS what motion controls was to Wii.

Some people are just saying that because they don't like 3D, just like how some Nintendo fans said the same thing about Wii because they didn't like motion controls.

How is 3DS like NGP anyways? I wasn't aware that NGP had 3D built in.

Nintendo found a way to set its handheld apart from Sony with 3D, just like they did with DS touch screen and Wii motion controls.

All Nintendo has to do now is start putting out games that take advantage of 3D in some nice ways.

it's sad what has become to be considered "revolutionary" this gen

I would like a massive hardware upgrade, they made like 3 times as much money as Sony this gen so there is no excuse this time, it should match the power of the ps4, and 720 which would severly disrupt the markets of those consoles, and insure 3rd party support for the core and Nintendo keeps up the print money cheap exclusives that sell mega millions and the wii 2 will be next gen leader by a land slide.

Also improve the online to the likes of psn and xbl, and make damn sure a regular controller is released at launch.
