Good for them, they took down some websites. What about the PSN? Which I presume do not run on the same servers as a couple of websites.

Anonymous had a nice idea with the Wikileaks thing, supporting Freedom of Speech, this just seems more like supporting hacking and piracy.

Its not about piracy. I believe you are misinformed. Its because Sony is sueing Geohotz and making it seem like Geohotz is responsible for piracy when he had nothing to do with it. I suggest you do research on the situation.

Really?

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

What he did eventually led to MORE piracy but he did not hack the PS3 for people to play pirated games. Someone else used the code and made back up launchers for pirated games. The lawyers want to make it seem like its his fault when in reality there were pirates on the PS3 long before he hacked it.

That's not "having nothing to do with it."

Sony is quite sneaky. Their lawyers intentionally worded their docs to make GeoHot fled-to-South-America when he was just on vacation.

I wouldnt doubt that. Its more of a scare tactic than a piracy problem to them. Wii has more pirates than PS3 and 360 combined yet it sells the most systems and the most software. I think Sony should just put back Other OS on the PS3,stop sueing Geohot and apologise. But its probably too late for that and they are going to lose a lot more than they ever hoped to gain from this situation.

There were pirates on the PS3 before he hacked it so of course he initially had nothing to do with it in the first place. How can he be responsible for something that was already happening before he got there?

I'm not misinformed either, I voiced my opinion, I think this whole thing is a bit redundent. It is affecting normal consumers who never did anything wrong because Anonymous think they are fighting for certain rights. In the end of it the discussion flies back to hacking and piracy and the end of the argument whether or not that's why Anonymous is doing it (they wouldn't be doing it if it wasn't for someone hacking PS3 OS ).

But I'm more concerned over the PSN though, was that actually brought down or was it just 2 websites?

Hmm, pie.

Thats what YOU are saying cause you have little or no knowledge on the situation. The lawsuit is about freedom to do what a person wants on a system they bought with their money. If a person wants to play pirated games on their PS3 they should have the freedom to do so but it will still be illegal.Anonymous and Geohotz is fighting for everyone's freedom. If psn is more important than the freedom to do what you want with something you bought for your money then there is no hope for you. The PS3 is capable of a lot more than just play pirated games and if people want to use it for other stuff they should have the freedom to do so. If Geohot wins the case nothing will change and piracy will still be illegal. If Sony wins they have the permission to manipulate how you use your PS3. They can brick it for their own reasons (which i doubt they will) and refuse to give you a replacement. Im just giving you an example so you will understand why Anonymous is hacking them. Do you understand the reality of the situation now?

Stop presuming. I know about the lawsuit. It's hard to have missed it over the last few months.

My freedom to play with my PS3 in the way I want, on the PSN as well, is far more important to me that some hacker's rights to do what they want with their PS3. I don't give a flying what these hackers do with their PS3s, I do however care if they affect me and the only way they can at this time affect me is taking down a service I use.

EDIT: You asked more questions, in reply to that I do know about the possible outcomes of the case. In my opinion the later you mention will not occur but this is probably a misinformed opinion.

Hmm, pie.

What about the freedom of game makers to earn money from their hard work? Does anyone ever consider that? The excuse "I was never gonna buy it anyway" doesn't make ANY sense. they give you a game, you pay money for it, that's how these things work. Sony aren't monsters for wanting you to pay for the games you play, people are just being cheapskates.

Well believe what you want. I agree Psn is more important than freedom :)
