Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Tempted to buy a Wii - What games should I look out for?

You say you don't like sports games... but Wii Sports Resort is not like any sports game you ever played.  There is no sort of campaign mode like in other sports games.  And also there is no game plan... they are all minigames is what I mean.  I'm not a fan of the EA sports games either, but Sports Resort is amazingly addictive.

Not sure what games to reccomend.  I'll say to watch out for Metroid Other M, Super Paper Mario, Kirby's Epic yarn, and Wii Music as they are not what you may expect despite the seemingly good credibility of their franchises.  They all are very different than their predecessors even if you do end up liking them.  I didn't for the most part.

Galaxy 1 and Mario Bros Wii were great.  If you like the latter I would also risk DKC returns.

No More Heroes 1 & 2, Super Paper Mario (might still be really expensive), Zack & Wiki, Bully: Scholarship Edition, Dead Space: Extraction and Muramasa: The Demon Blade. Out of all of them, I'd probably go for No More Heroes the most, buy both if you can.

Look up all the games I mentioned on Youtube before you go and buy them, never just take the word of a forum goer and spend money on a game you may or may not like.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

They'll name them all. Just don't forget about Punch Out!!

not a big wii fan but new super mario bro. is 2d platforming heaven, and the nostalgia while playing it is great.

I guess I should pay attention as well considering I don't play my wii much (if at all).

no more heroes 1 and 2, trauma center, mario galaxy, silent hill, muramasa the demon blade.

jugando ahora: Super Street fighter 4, ninokuni "ds"

Quick note: I used to own a Wii when it first came out, big mistake to be honest since there were no good games out for it at the time and I sold it.

So yesterday when I was in town, I saw in Gamestation they were selling used consoles for pretty cheap, for example, a 60GB B/C PS3 Homefront for only £140, which is a steal since Homefront is £40 anyway, lol.

Then I came across a Wii which was going for £60 (Well there were 3 of 'em), which is REALLY cheap since they're £150 new anyway, so 2.5x cheaper, although I'm a little skeptical about the condition of it (Couldn't see the console itself, it was boxed) so the next time I pop in I'm going to check the condition of it first (Ask them to bring it out etc.)

I know there's quite a few games out right now that I'd love to play all for the Wii, some examples being Monster Hunter Tri, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Mad World and Epic Mickey, and obviously there's more which I'd love to play, and those coming out in the future too (Xenoblade Chronicles is being released in EU for example)

Are there any games I should be looking out for that I might be interested in? Any genre is accepted as long as it isn't a sports or party game, don't really like 'em to be fair.

I can get Metroid Prime Trilogy for £30 ($45) Used (Apparently it's like new, only been played once...) or £40 ($60) New, so it's either not out of print yet, or just not really hard to find at all, lol. These prices are from Amazon, I could get it cheaper elsewhere (I use Gamestracker to look for bargains :D) but I can't be bothered signing up to other websites haha. I can get Super Smash Bros. Brawl for only £8 ($12) New, Monster Hunter Tri for £20 ($30) New, and Twilight Princess for £12 ($18) New. These prices are pretty cheap to be honest, lol... I might have to order them right now, even if I don't get a Wii yet.

I think I'll get these four games (Well I guess technically it's six, since MPT is three games) for sure. Based on these four games, are there any games that are similar that I might enjoy? I mean, like I said I'll take a random shot in the dark and try any game as long as it isn't a sports or party game.

So it turns out on Play.com they're selling Madworld for only £4 ($6) so I've already ordered it, lol...

So yeah...Monster Hunter Tri will take you several hundred hours to complete, so get that first (I hear a very kind and friendly and awesome user has created a guild thread if you're interested )

Also, if you like MPT, how about Other M? Not as bad as people may say, and good for #8 in Gamestation.

If you like the sound of Xenoblade then Fragile Dreams and also Tales of Symphonia may be worth it (original is GC but it's all good)

Madworld fits nicely with both No More Heroes 1 and 2, and also Epic Mickey goes with DKCR, Galaxy 1 and 2 (seriously, play these games), NSMBWii, Sonic Colours, Kirby's Epic Yarn and Klonoa.

How about Mario Kart for a racer? And F1 is also a good choice.  If you're doing that you'll need Super Smash Bros. BRAWL, but then again, there's PunchOut...

Is Zelda for you? If so get TP and Okami as preparation for Skyward Sword. And Radiant Dawn is a good timesink as well, if you fancy it. I've played that for over 350 hours even! The Forgotten Sands is also ejoyable, and a nice challenge to boot.

A fan of shooters? Then how about The Conduit and Goldeneye? But then there's Red Steel 2 (NOT the original), and Black Ops Wii is also enjoyable. Conduit 2 is out soon, so you could get that.

Then there's Resi4 as well, a nice game which mixes survival and shooter. Like survival? How about the other Resi games and also Silent Hill? Darkside and Umbrella Chronicles are nice as well...

Which leads on to Sin And Punishment 2, and also Dead Space: Extraction. Both great games if you see them cheap.

That about concludes the introductory tour of Wii games which may be to your liking. Just, don't forget Little King's Story as well OK?

Would you like to know about online?

Oh dear that's a lot lol...

I wasn't even aware Tales of Symphonia released in EU haha... and Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn looks really cool so I'll check it out too.

Well there's a lot more, just thought I'd keep it in the games which suit you and some of the more recently released titles

Radiant Dawn is amazing, and you can get Path Of Radiance for the GC if you don't already have it.

There's also great WiiWare titles like the 6 Bit.Trip Games, World of Goo, Hydroventure, Cave Story etc.

And don't forget about pretty much everything on VC!

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Goldeneye, Silent Hill, Tatsunoko Vs Capcom, Radiant Dawn, Still love Godafather Blackhand Edition, Conduit 2 (maybe), Trackmania, if you want something different (and you can find it) Sakura Wars:So Long My Love,  Red Steel 2 in a nice use of MW ,  No More Heroes 2

bit.trip is probably the only good thing IMO on WiiWare. Goldeneye for the love of all that is good, its the only game out of the 8 games i have for Wii that i actually play, hell it saved my Wii from being sold
