All the hater's need take a deep breath and re-lax. Lol

Dual Screen, touch screen, HD, motion controls, analog sticks on controllers, rumble, all these things are/were considered gimmicks when they came out.

Some of them have pretty much become standards (HD, DA,  dual  screen for DS and  touch screen for the new handhelds).

Today's gimmick when used well usually become tomorrow's standard.

People like to throw around the word gimmick all the time like it's a bad thing.

Gimmicks are one of the things that moves gaming forward so it doesn't get stale.

3D has been a gimmick for over 30 years.

3d is a gimmick.

Motion controls were a gimmick.

Touch screens were a gimmick.

Gimmicks sell systems.

Yeah.  I could pay for and play Ocarina of Time again and pretend that it wasn't supposedly 3D the first time.  Sorry I don't want to purchase this overpriced piece of equipment when I could make the down payment on a house instead.  I'll get all of the Shiny Golds in DKC Returns that you have given up on while you're flying around Wuhu Island.  I did that on Wii Sports Resort ages ago.

I am not going to buy Ocarina of Time 3D either, simply because it is one of the worst Zelda games ever made. The thing is that the 3DS is going to get plenty of original games down the line and you are really missing out by being so dismissive. The 3D of the 3DS is very impressive, I have seen it with my own eyes. You are just like the people who kept saying that the Wii is all about dumbed down games in which you just waggle in order to win. No clue about the system you are talking about, but passing it off as if you do.

Better grab your flame shield!

Not that I care, the sooner you fall the faster my Reign of Terror kicks-off.

Above: still the best game of the year.

I could write two paragraphs on this subject so you could say tl;dt, but I'm just gonna resume it with "no".

Wow, OP really doesn't understand the differences in different types of 3D. Yes, the N64 had 3D graphics, as in it used 3d models in the forms of animated polygons instead of the traditional 'sprites'. Most games used 3D graphics these days (although a lot of games on the Wii and some of the Japanese PS3 games don't always use 3D graphics).

You DO realize that 3D rendering is a lot different than 3D projecting?

Off topic:  Ocarina Of Time is one of the worst Zelda games ever made?  This seriously makes me question your taste.  Let me guess, you'd rather play a game like Twilight Princess?  Stop trying to go off topic and ruin this thread.  Talk about the issues at hand.

On topic:  I am not like one of these people that thought that you had to waggle to win in order to win on a Wii game.  The Wii and 3DS are two completely different cases.  The Wii was released with Wii Sports which was something completely original.  Now the 3DS, on the other hand, is releasing old games with a stereoscopic 3D effect on it and acting like it's something new.  It would be like if the Wii was released with all of the New Play Controls games.  Don't you see the difference?  I am not going to spend an arm and a leg to play old games with a 3D effect.

To be honest, nothing from the launch interests me at all but Pilotwings.  The launch lineup is rather weak and don't act like getting a year old Street Fighter game is something to be excited about.

I do understand this, but both of them were advertised the same way.

HD, motion controls, touch screen and a bunch of other stuff were gimmicks long  before they really became mainstream.

Your recent comments show that you did not know the difference.
