I went to Bestbuy and gave it a whirl. The 3D is pretty cool but not really mind blowing. It reminds of the 3D effect you see on giftcards and such where you see a person or object that stays flat on the card and everything behind it has a sort of 3Dish effect. That is how it was with Pilot Wings. My character seemed a bit 2Dish, but everything else seemed 3Dish, but with the effect going into the screen. I witnessed no pop out effect.
I gave it about 20 minutes or so there and while I think it was cool I don't think it is $250 cool.
I then went to Target next door to pick up some food to eat for me and my daughter and low and behold they had a display too, so I played it some more. This time it was a bit better because I realized that I could pull the unit off the display.
#1.) I lose the effect if I move my head up or down, to the left or to the right. I need to keep my head still and at a specific distance from my face.
#2.) 3/4 3D was the sweet spot for me. Anything else gave me little to nothing and full 3D gave me double vision. Also seems that the higher the 3D effect, the closer you need to have it to your face and vice versa.
#3.) After playing for a combined 30-45 minutes I experience ZERO headaches or dizziness and I also experienced no eye strain at all. After playing your eyes need to readjust but it is extremely minor and takes a few moments at most for me
