I am 39 years old.  I have been playing video games a long time now.  I read so many interesting posts declaring that Crysis 2 is, or is not, the best looking game out there.  So, here is my humble opinion on the subject.

When I was a kid, I played games on the Intellivision.  I played bowling a lot.  My character was a purple combination of blocks.  The bowling ball had at least 8 corners.  And yet, I was amazed.

Later on, my brother and I received a Commodore 64.  There was a game out there called The Forbidden Forest.  In it, I could see my blocky character (who now had 3 colors) fight spiders, bees and dragons.  When you finished a level, he would dance on a midi file (I still remember it).  I was amazed.

Then, I got a Sega.  The first game I popped in was The Ren and Stimpy I don't remember what.  The characters were looking like they were supposed to.  I was amazed.

After a long break, I came back to gaming with the Wii.  I played a lot of games and the graphics looked sharp and colorful.  I was amazed.

The next step was the 360.  I bought Alan Wake and the graphics really blew me away.  I could almost not believe the quality troughout the whole game.

And lastly, I acquired an HDTV and bought Crysis 2.  For the first time, I was not only amazed, but almost speachless.  For me, these graphics are such a HUGE improvment over what I saw in my life that I can only say : Good Job to the devs.  And now, as I play this amazing game, I wonder what's next.  So, in the end, Crysis 2 graphics are for me the most awesome thing I have seen in gaming.  That's it.  Thanks for reading.

A 39 year old that has a positive opinion on the evolution of graphics?Finally!

Being a Nintendo fan and forum member on nintendo fansites there is nothing worse than the new trend since Wii's (or was it DS'?) launch that graphics don't matter.From a block to the 3 colored character,from 2D to 3D,from SD to HD are all just that important as what some people call gameplay and think it's completely independent from graphics.

Yes Crysis 2 is awesome.It might not be my cup of tea but I admit that it's a masterpiece in it's kind.

Seriously though, sometimes I think we are a little spoiled this generation.  The graphics we are seeing these days really are truly something to be in awe of. 

It is warranted however.

While I am sure the game looks fantastic and has genuinely blew him away, he can't really give a point of view on the "debate" if he (from what we know) hasn't played the titles that it is up against in the debate itself.

Assuming of course the "debate" is "Best graphics on consoles".

Nope, it might make him say, that looks pretty good.  There is not nearly enough of a graphical difference between Crysis 2 and any PS3 game to make his jaw drop.  He might say it looks a little better but that's it.  The fact that their is even a debate on which games look better just shows how close they are in the graphics department. 

It looks worse than the original, and is significantly more linear. Its a downgrade in every single fashion and is a very piss poor game. Cryteks worst game, tbh.

I only know one person on this site that has both versions of Crysis2 and he wasn't giving it any crowns.

Nobody is even talking about this on any of the other sites I am part of.

You are correct about the debate (or lack of).  Maybe I just wanted to share my point of view on the evolution of graphics.  I really feel fortunate to have seen how far they have come.  Makes me appreciate the games I play today even more.  Just played Crysis 2 again and they keep surprising me.
