what do you guys think combat evolved will do to reaches sales.Right now reach is outpacing halo 3 by 450k units. will CEA stop reaches sales like odst stopped halo 3's sales. If CEA has the entire multiplayer of reach then i think it will hurt reach'es sales pretty badly. But if CE only has a code to download the maps for reach it wont be as bad. Either way i dont see reach passing 11m because of it and halo 4. It might not even pass 10.5 if cea has the entire multiplayer.

Halo MCC will sell 5+ million copies(including digital)

halo 5 will sell 10 million copies(including digital)

x1 will pass ps4 in USA, and UK.

CEA doesn't have Reach's multiplayer on it as all.  If anything its a complementary experience for Reach because it comes with 7 remade maps specifically for Reach so you'll still have to buy Reach in order to play them online.  Shouldn't hurt Reaches sales at all honeslty and I'm not sure if Reach will pass Halo 3 or not but 10 million is for sure in the bag especially since there won't be another true Halo until next year.

Awesome thread! It makes me laugh when I hear people say Halo universe isn't very deep, but in actuality it's probably one of the deepest and most engaging universes in video game history.

Thanks I'll be keeping this thread alive and going for a long while still especially now that there will be plenty of new story related stuff to discuss with Halo 4 on the way and the CE remake!

And personally I believe Halo has the single deepest story of any game in any genre in the history of gameing.  Perhaps not always the best storytelling but in terms of depth there isn't really anything near on its level

And with the new books being released, namely Cryptum squel and Ghosts of Onyx 2....

apologise in advace as this will be off topic but i wanted to ask this question and it doesn't really deserve its own thread.

how good is this story in halo really??

way back i tried and hated halo (gameplay) but to be honest i sucked at shooters back then. now thanks to KZ2 i'm good and enjoy the FPS genre much more.

with halo being redone in HD for the 360 now (aka soon) seems like the best time to give it another shoot. so i'm curious how good the story really is. i don't have live gold so i'd only be playing for the single player elements.

is the story really that much better than other games?? money isn't a big deal to me but time is so if i get halo games it probably comes at the expense of playing dead space 2 and mass effect.

You haven't played Mass Effect o_o???

Anyway the stories in the Halo games are not that great (and you should start with Halo Reach btw) people who are into the Halo Universe mostly tried to find answers about certain events/locations/characters in the game and when they find the answer they will find another bunch of stuff they want to know and before they know it they are trapped in the deep story..

Mass Effect is a better story driven game...Maybe rent the Halo games because you complete them easy in a weekend..

Halo is really deep for sure but no as deep as the mass effect universe, its not even close. But i do love halo. I would love to see a halo rpg, maybe the bioware team behind mass effect. they could start it after me3 wraps up.

Can't really tell witch one is more deeper how come you have the feeling Mass Effect is much deeper? (And yes I am also follwing the ME uiverse have the books/comics etc.)..

Etc: I think an open world/sandbox kind of game would be more suited than WRPG for Halo.

This is a pretty fair evaluation.

Mass Effect is the far better game in terms of actual storytelling.  Its driven by story first whereas at the end of the day Halo is still a FPS and driven first and foremost by gameplay.  For a FPS the storytelling is top notch and the only other one I can think of haveing on par or better is Bioshock but Halo still has the far deeper universe than Mass Effect.

There's just much much much more detail and history in Halo's backstory but its also had far more time to develop it.  Basically play through the Halo games first to get your bearing on the story and events but if you want to REALLY learn about all of the various aspects, races, wars, and history then all that backstory and novels come into place.

Ghosts of Onyx 2 is the one that takes place after Halo 3?

Well Ghosts of Onyx 1 took place over a long period of time and the mainly covers the creation of the Spartan III's and their trainer, mentor, and supervisor the Spartan II Kurt 051.

Basically Ghosts of Onyx left off with a major cliff hanger because the planet Onyx the UNSC was using to secretly train the Spartan III's was actually a Forerunner shield world created to keep Forerunners and other creatures alive in the event of the Halo rings being lit.  At the end of the book Dr. Halsey, the Spartan II's Fred and Kelly, and several surviving Spartan III's end up trapped in a Dyson Sphere in the heart of the planet.  Basically anyting could be inside including living Forerunners.

The majority of the universe had zero idea Onyx even existed in the first place so no one knows to look for them and even if they did they would have never found them because as part of the Dyson Sphere's defense it went into slipspace.

So basically Ghosts of Onyx 2 will probably tell the story of the survivors inside Onyx and what they discovered there. And yes will probably take place after Halo 3 or at the same time since I believe the final events of Ghosts of Onyx transpire during Halo 2's timeframe.
