But that was because they couldn't fuck it up that badly.. The books were written on what did in the games...but even then...and that made me really sad...When you play Halo 2 you have this amazing Covenant species war...It was not only the Elite..But also the Hunters joining the Elites and half of the Grunts aswell...Only the Jackals/Brutes stayed with prophets (not sure what the Drones did) and then you play Halo 3 and everything is like nothing happened...The elites stepped out of it that is all...  Halo 2's story was really great and I even loved to play as the arbiter..

I see what you mean but Bungie purposely kept alot of that stuff less in the forefront so as not to alienate the casual player who would get confused by too much story.  They still layered TONS of backstory and deeper plots into the game for the hardcore who go looking such as the Terminals in Halo 3 and the Data Pads in Halo Reach.  In fact the Terminals in Halo 3 are arguably some of the deepest plot elements in all of Halo fiction such as the fact that Mendicate Bias actually is the one who saved Master Chief on the Ark and allowed him to escape.  And that was directly fron Bungie's writers not the novelists.

And the reason that other racers weren't removed from combat due to the Schism in Halo 3 is to keep gameplay fresh.  It would've sucked if there would have been way less grunts to fight and no epic Hunter battles.

very great thread I was always intrested in the Halo universe

have you guys seen Legends, what you think?

Legends is pretty sweet, some stuff is cannon some certainly isn't but still a fun watch for Halo fans.

My favourites would have to be the last one, Prototype and the Duel. Pretty cool stuff tbh

Disconnect and self destruct, one bullet a time.

Well the writer at Bungie or one of the writers wrote also a book(s)..  And I undestand that Bungie did that..But that still screws up the universe...what if someone wants to write a book about it?  Personally I loved the covenant war and I loved that in the books you have some parts where you follow the story from the eyes of an grunt/elite...    infact for me the Covenant is more interesting than the humans =p..  Humanity is so overrated;.:s

If you could go in depth into the terminals and data pads that would be awesome!

Well I'm starting work right now on the Forerunner - Flood War and alot of what is contained in the terminals deals with that war.  Specifically because Mendicate Bias is directly comunicating with Master Chief in the terminals.  I gotta get up early for the launch of the 3DS at work in the morning though so I probably won't have the MASSIVE update I'm working on ready until tomorrow.

Be sure to check it out though because I think this update is going to be the most extensive and interesting yet.  Its alot more in depth with more obscure Halo knowledge and some exciting stuff.  To me the Forerunner - Flood War is the most interesting aspect of the entire Halo Universe.

It struck me yesterday that in the near future the Halo bungie community will be no more, some already went to the 343 industries forums (but they still suck at the moment ) :(

Really?  I haven't went and checked out the 343 site yet how is it?  I was thinking about that too especially now that Bungie is going multi-plat it will get a flood of PS3 users as well.  Its kind of bittersweet for me, I've been a member of those forums for so long and had such great time with the Halo community there but it will be dead within two years.  Bungie's new multi-plat will take over and all things Halo will move to the 343 website.

Its nice to see Bungie expand and grow but at the same time I'll miss the good old days with the amazing Halo community and the fantastically deep lore discussions we had there.

Does anyone else think halo 4 should be delayed until 2013 and be on the next Xbox. Every main halo game has been 3 years apart so why change that now. Why would they put halo 4 on the 360(maybe there biggest game of gen) just to release a new console the next year, we don't need that many halo's in a gen and it will kill its sales.

Halo 4 should be the ultimate halo, but it wont be if they release it on the 360. Halo reach while good had so frame rate problems to say the least. It didn't have any large battles like halo 3( i can think of one mission that had a battle so big iv never seen anything like it since). Remember the 2 scarab mission, that was epic. Halo reach'es graphics were pushed up to much thats why i believe there was no big battles or any scarabs in game. 343 will presumably push halo 4 even further than reach was pushed so that will probably mean the battles will be even smaller than they were in reach.

lets say they release the new console in spring 2013(don't want to give wii u to much of head start). halo 4 in fall 2013 would give it a killer holiday. Or if in fall 2013 halo 4 would be a killer launch title. They need to let the hype build and that wont happen very well if they release halo 4 in 2012.

Halo MCC will sell 5+ million copies(including digital)
