Forums - Gaming Discussion - CRYSIS 2 - whats all the fuss about ???

^

got the LTD edition today, also got a chance to try 360 version. TBH i dont see what the big fuss is about with comparisons. from what i played it seems a kind of black ops ps3/360 scenario i which 360 version has a rez bump.

onto gameplay opening sequence is amazing but after that its a mixed bag, outdoor enviroments seem cluttered with 2D trees and 2D bushes everywhere, you have enemies even in a medium distance its a bit of a chore to register hits.

which leads me onto the gameplay. ie gunplay its one of the worst imo its just not got precision and polish compared to other games, try battlefield, killzone, halo, resistance, cod, gears its way behind them and is a major let down. IN FACT i challenge anyone to show me any shooter that we have all played out of the good ones that is behind crysis 2 in this dept. you wont find any it really is that bad. halo plays smooth so does killzone so does gears so does call of duty the list can go on. if you still dont agree just check the killcams online

game doesnt run to well on either system, but it does look nice in many parts. my biggest +1 would be level size and design and some parts really do look awesome. the lighting makes some parts even better. one thing i found is enemies dont stand out to much amoungst the cluttered screen you seem to get shot then rely on damage pointer to see which direction its coming from.

those who have the game and really do have the game will have to agree

animation is also poor, next time you get a kill up close look at the physics but worst is the AI its down right terrible, on the section where gould tells you to retrieve sample from downed ship i noticed many times you kill enemies and thier buddies just stand there you even find them running away from you its a major downside. it sticks out plain to see

music is some of the best ive heard, its like a a proper film OST.

had a quick bash on multiplayer, grafix are lower than single player and didnt run to well but gets the job done. again its not got the precision you find in other games. and im not kidding you on this, it only supports 6 v 6 with huge maps with only 6 players on your team is a very basic set up. ive got the LTD edition so il use my codes to unlock the extras and il deffo be giving it some more time online.

all in all its a good game and worth getting, id give it a 8.0 so far, would have been a 8.5 but its to unpolished and things like hit detection even in single player, other performance issues, cluttered screens bad AI and bad animations they wont be able to patch that as its in the game now.

its definatly definatly not the best looking game out there but is very very good for a multiplat. it may look good in gifs and small youtube videos, but game in hand on your TV its simply not what it was hyped up to be

  • +stella lighting
  • +very colourful
  • +large levels
  • +best music
  • +lots of detail

  • -poor performance
  • -poor AI
  • -poor animations
  • -non precise gunplay
  • -hit detection is off
  • -only 6 v 6 online
  • -cluttered screen
i would recomend buying this you probably will like it, it is a unique game with the nanosuit and im sure there will be a console sequel sometime down the line. ive only been on it an hour im sure other things will make me like it better like story etc all in all a good first attempt by crytek

from all your negatives i would give it an 6/10

I will buy it later on PC for <20 dollars at Eb games.

But what where you going to expect from crytek, there games are just graphically showcases and there isn't enough resources to go around the other resources when the engine team and art team are getting all the funding.

Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong

By big fuzz you mean all the 360 fans went crazy because they got exited that ps3 version might be inferior?

anyways Im up to the "pier"I think its mission 5 and the graphics are actually really good but I STAND FIRM THAT IT IS NO "GRAPHICS KING" or someshit like that ppl claim it, TBH it looks kinda average when I play it on 1080p I always to switch to 720p.......

i kind of like that it is only 6 v 6 online. It is easier to communicate with teammates. But then thats just preference. I mihgt have been good to add some sort of big team battle type playlist

I've rented it and I'm a few levels into the story so far and I'm getting a little bored of it already. It sure as hell looks nice, but it feels like some of the same annoyances of Crysis return. For example, the way the AI is alerted. Enemies from a distance somehow spot you even if only an inch of your foot is peeking out from a corner. Heck, I've even uncloaked (with the enemy tracer ability unlocked) and noticed that the guy who was shooting at me saw me through a wall.

I'd like to buy it for my computer, but honestly no way I'm spending the rull retail price for it. Who knows, maybe I'll get lucky with a Steam sale like I did with buying Bad Company 2 for $7.

I think the games a beast! I wasn't that excited about it until but thought id pick it up being as there hasn't been a half decent first person shooter in a while and now im totally hooked! It's really fun and has alot of variety in the way you can approach each situation. The AI at times can be dumb but overall it is intelligent and as good as most FPS.

Yeah there is some minor downflaws with the game but the overall package is quite refreshing and ultimately alot of fun.

Why does steam have to always have sales on. My credit card can not take any more punishment!!!

You're just downplaying it because it's a multiplatform and for a gamer that's very sad to see.

I'm waiting for the steam summer sale. Too soon after killzone 3 for me and too busy with other games. Better to play it without the extremely high expectations of best graphics ever. By summer I should have forgotten about all the screenshots and videos floating around atm and can be pleasantly surprised again. Heck maybe they'll have dx11 support by then :)

Playing a game with too much hype tends to lead to disappointment. I'm glad I stuck with GT5 after the initial letdown. It turned out to be my most played online racer to date, still racing nurburgring almost every night from 80kg carts to over 1000hp le mans cars.

The game can get a little gitchy too.

Right after I made my prior post, the game froze up on me. While normally this wouldn't be horrible (annoying? very) as you just reset the system and load the save and you're off, but apparently it corrupted the save so loading the last save brought me right back to the game frozen in the same spot thus requiring me to have to restart the system again and redo the entire level. *edit* Later on, there was a part after a cinematic where I came back in without the model for the primary weapon (think the finger weapon skins for Counter-Strike) and this section animations were becoming choppy.

Next, in a somewhat comical fashion, the AI seems to trip up over the geometry or just plain kills itself with explosives. I noticed that there weren't any aliens in the segment I was playing, but as I was stealthed and walking to the objective, a few of the enemy soldiers were getting killed. I even happend to see one guy look like he tripped over a street curb and died and another fall off an overpass.

It has faults but the general conseus is *great* it has a *87* on metacritic. That's pretty high. Sorry to see you don't feel the same way but it's cool brah!

It's just that simple.
