It was reported yesterday that George Hotz "fled" the country in order to escape... a civil case? Sony claimed that the infamous hacker had sabotaged evidence in the case and was using his location outside the US as an excuse to not comply with the court's orders. Ars caught up with Stewart Kellar, one of Hotz' lawyers, who rejected both accusations. Hotz is in South America on a trip he had planned before the lawsuit was filed, and Sony has been given all the components it needs to access his hard drive.

Terms and conditions must be followed or why the hell have them at all. 

Read carefully about the drives, Hotz removed all the compents possible without core compoents (eg. the platters) needed to retrieve the data -- thus the 3rd party had to go to the drive manufucturer for memory controllers, etc. Also he is in south armerica, obviously this isn't illegal as its a civil case - but how did you expect SONY to respond?

maybe do some research then attack, it was in their best interests to suddenly announce he has fled

My ass he went there for a vacation! This guy should be either put in jail or sued.

If you read the wording of the statement, it would probably say something along with "it appears he has fleed." All this legal stuff is tied up in really detailed wording that allows them to worm out of so many things
