The iGod!

It's no secret. The media follows Apple news like Lennie follows George. There's almost nothing to seperate them! Is it time for them to finally let Apple go? Much of the media pays too much attention on this technology giant They make our eyes believe that it's worthy of worship! When Apple  does make a mistake or falls short of expectation, all heads turn the opposite direction, forgetting of such a fualt. The internet and media outlets think it's necessary to report on every single Apple rumor and advertise the arrival of a new Apple product as if we have no choice but to go out there and waste our money!

Apple products are overhyped. My experience with an iPod isn't pretty. For me personally, it was one of the worst buying decisions I made. Why? I found cheaper and better alternative! An Mp3 player works well and is cost efficient. 

Apple is not the only technology giant out there in the market. Do we ever hear so much news about Sony, Microsoft, or Nintendo? Not much. I have failed to even hear yet of the 3DS which will bring glasses-less 3D! Where is that on the media's agenda? 

So why? WHY?! Does the media pay so much attention to them? Does Apple pay them? People just love them and I'm just a crazy bathoon? There's no doubt they have innovated some and their products are of quality but such glory isn't as deserving as other companies. 

Apple is a first mover and they are balanced between hardware and software OS.

Google only makes software. The same for Microsoft.

Because they create hardware for people who aren't techies and just want things to work.  They do a good job of letting non savvy consumers do things that seem cool or they have fooled themselves into believing they couldn't without apple's simplistic design. 

They also have pretty good build quality on most of their products. I can't afford a macbook air for school but something of that size and portability that also happens to be so sturdy fits in really well with an active or mobile lifestyle.

They dont get viruses supposedly.  It's only because penetration is so small it isn't worth it for a hacker to create a mac version of their virus.  If they ever eclipse 30-40% marketshare you will see it happen. Hell web viruses can already affect macs which is why it is recommended that you use virus protection if i'm not mistaken. 

I don't see anything wrong with anyone who purchases Apple products. I just do have a little know how and think that's far better excersizing it than to pay the Apple tax I couldn't afford anyway.  To those who's income isn't that of a poor lowly student I'm jealous. I just wish they would let me run the software of my choice without voiding the warranty.  I would love an ipad 2 running android. Since they get the tax on the hardware must they be entitled to every penny spent on the device afterward?

I come from France, and since the first iPod and IPhone, our medias here have been making a parallel marketing campaign to praise every piece of shit hardware Apple have been randomly spawning.

My explanation, is that mainstream tech journalist are not techs, they are just a bunch of n00bs who don't know to handle a windows/linux based computer, and prefer the oversimplicity of the apple stuff. Besides, when I am happy with my black desktop tower, always half opened to change the hardware more easily, with cables everywhere like in the Brazil movie; these so called journalist prefer white shiny stuff, even if it's full of shit, as long as they can read their mails.

Basically, the casuals are still in a blind crusade against tech-savvy people, without even knowing it.

ohh man i feel the same. here in dominican republic some people just need to see the apple´ logo and boom they think that must be the best laptop ever! their products are way overpriced. especially PCs. yh they´ve innovated some. but their products are not worth that much money. and the fact that have to use itunes sucks

Well, they gotta worship something in their miserable and puny lives I guess.

yh but there are so many good things to worship besides apple. like chess:)

And chemistry.

Just wait until Apple comes up with a glasses-free 3D display for their iPhones/iPods/iPads and call it 'magical'.
