From what I have seen from the videos and I even thought the demo had better lighting and textures than Killzone 3. In killzone 3 I found that a lot of walls have really low res textures. The water in Crysis 2 destroys killzone 3. In KZ3 the water does have ripples but you can see the pixels in them and also when you shoot the water just has a crappy little water splash thing. In crysis when you shoot the water not only does it ripple but it reacts and looks like its more physics based. KZ3 has some great looking scenes but it also has a crap ton of aliasing. So I say yes we wait for the final build but I don't think killzone 3 should have the graphics crown from God of war 3 or uncharted 2 hell I don't think it beats killzone 2. I think Killzone 2 looks better in my opinion.  So I'm sure I will get shit on by ps3 fans but I basically study a game when I get it. I am a graphics whore. So far from videos Crysis looks better to me. As to which verison I don' t know I am trying to figure out which one to get. I have all three, pc, ps3, 360. I know the pc will look better but I am a console gamer at heart so its kinda between the ps3 and 360. So i might not buy it on launch day just to wait and see to find out which verison truly is the best.

I agree with some of your points. Killzone 3 was pretty from far away but when you get up close to objects you see they aren't as good looking as you thought. For example the lilly pads in the water in the jungle in campaign looked pixelated and were just a texture map on the water and not free floating objects. There were parts in the game where the textures are super low res. Textures on the barrels in mp are especially bad. Also in Blood Gracht when you go up to the vines and plants on the wall they are super pixelated. Overall its still probably the best looking PS3 game. Uncharted 2 might possibly be a bit better. God of War 3 has sections where it looks amazing but Hera's character model is terrible and one of the worst I've seen in years in any game. Also Hephaestus (sp?) has terrible textures as well and the other females are just average character models. The lack of consistency keeps that from being the top in my opinion.

Judging from what I've seen from YouTube Crysis 2 looks better but I'll truly know in 36 hours when I have it in my console. I'm getting the 360 version. I think I'll fire up Uncharted 2 and Crysis 2 at the same time and compare.

Regardless if Crysis 2 is the best or not (which I think it will take the crown for now) I have no doubt Gears of War 3 and Uncharted 3 will be fighting for the top spot.

As far as killzone 3 probably being the best looking ps3 game, I do think Uncharted 2 looks better. Uncharted 2 is far more consistent with its textures, water, and snow looks way better in Uncharted. God of war 3 I agree has Character models that look god awful, but the titans and Kratos himself look amazing. There are some flat textures in God3 but overall the game has a polished look to it. In my opinion over all because it’s so consistent with everything Uncharted 2 has the graphics crown. Killzone 3 Just disappointed me I was expecting a giant leap over killzone 2.  Now Gears of war 3 and Uncharted 3 that’s a different story. Don't forget about Battlefield 3 that games animations look amazing. Anyway let me know how the graphics are when you get Crysis 2. I'm glad someone agrees with me.

Because some people think it is supposedly better looking than killzone 3 and that was supposedly the best looking fps on the consoles.

That's the only explaination, as for the gameplay, I am not much interested in it since its mp sucked.

Are you really under the illusion people just want to play this game because of graphics?

The original Crysis sold more copies than any Killzone game so far (it was pirated millions more I'm sure) and it was a critically acclaimed title. With that said people are excited about the sequel, reviews so far have been great, and it looks like a genuinly interesting title. I assure you the hype surrounding Crysis 2 has little to do with it being "better looking than killzone 3."

Its primarily Sony fans who are focusing on the graphics. For example, I've seen you in many Crysis 2 threads talking about nothing more than graphics.

Being new to this site I have to say a lot of you guys love to bicker about graphics.

What I will say is Crysis 2 is a damn fine looking game from the videos I've seen, but I need to play it for myself to come to a consclusion. Is it the best looking console game? No. Is it better looking than KZ3? Probably not. Both have their own type of visual style so it's hard to compare. Is it one of the best looking Multiplat games? Hell Yea!!

This game isn't anything special and the only thing people are talking about this game is graphics, Sony fans or otherwise.

You think selnor is a Sony fan? Nope. And yet he is the on who has pretty much started all this graphics talk along with the mendoza guy, both are ironically, not Sony fans.

So get your facts correct next time.

It isn't anything special? Well its a sequel of a critically acclaimed title and expectations are high all around. That makes it kinda special.

People aren't just talking about the graphics, but maybe you're hyper focused on the posts that are. Its a gorgeous game, multiplayer betas were fun, and the campaign looks like a blast. My question is why wouldn't people be hyped about Crysis 2?

Its nothing like the first crysis, its been made more streamlined. There aren't that many threads as talking about gameplay as many as graphics. Similarities between the first crysis and this would be in gunplay but that's it really. Not many who liked the first are exactly jumping for joy at the second one, there are actually many that are disappointed that its no longer as open as crysis 1. Many PC gamers actually think this is a downgrade in graphics from crysis 1 on the PC.

Some are obviously excited for its gameplay, but that's not exactly the majority of the hype.

Many of these people unhappy about the changes will play it regardless. Hence, I don't give a crap of what "many PC gamers" think.

So Crysis is going the same direction of the most popular shooters on the market. As long as they do it well I don't care what direction they go.

Now I'm not oblivious to the hype about the graphics, but that's not the sole appeal to this game. It adds to whats looking to be an all around great package. People would be excited about it even if it had average HD graphics.

I am totally hyped now that I have Crysis to benchmark my XBox to prove that my Xbox360 is faster than your Xbox360.

Welcome to VGC, where games gain hype and popularity based on graphics, not gameplay!

I'm wonderin if the game's actually be any good. The multiplayer was kinda whatever but also fun'ish in a way.
