Forums - Gaming Discussion - Next generation predictions.

Seeing that Patcher and many other analyst are signaling the succesor to the Wii coming soon does anyone think they are ready for a new generation console change?  If so when should each of the big 3 console players release their systems.  What are you're expectations for Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft in terms of hardware that will differentiate it from the current gen.  I for one expect Nintendo to at least finally deliver HD along with backward compatibility. Their motion control should stay about the same...a little more refined but I don't think anything drastic. I fully expect the next generation to be here by winter 2012.  Any predictions?

Around the Network

Nintendo Christmas 2011 - I expect some new form of tech which will give it a significant edge over PS3 and Xbox 360
Microsoft Summer 2012 - 2013 with updated kinekt tech
Sony Christmas 2012 - 2013

no, we need an good 3-4 more years first

But the Wii can get an upgrade next year tho.

also we are like 4 years into this gen and i say 4 years because if the PS2 was very successful in 2005-2006 then the gen didn't start until 2007 with PS3 release.

Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong

the 360 and ps3 probably won't get new consoles till sales drop off pretty significantly for their current gen consoles, since the initial years of their new consoles will probably result in losses. Nintendo might release a new console soon since they always sell their consoles at a profitable point. I'm interested to see what they do with their next gen console. I'm sure they have thought of some new innovative ideas because imo if its just wii hd it won't sell to well. Most of nintendo's core titles don't really need the super improved graphics, so I'm interested in what they come up with.

I'll just take some random guesses.

Wii2-late 2012

xbox 3- late 2013

ps4- late 2013-late2014 if sales remain strong for ps3 because i think sony is least eager to move on to next gen for consoles.

I predict very dire consequences if Sony waits 3 years to launch a new console, should be in 1.5 years. Otherwise they'll be too far behind and might get last place two generations in a row.

As I've been saying for ages

Wii - 1 year after the 3DS

PS4 - 1 year after the NGP

720 - at least 3 months before the PS4

The generation has begun, people.

Not if Microsoft also wait 3 Years to launch a new console

So it doesn't matter if the PS4 fails as long as the 720 also fails. How vengeangful of you.

Nintendo is gonna do something crazy noone could have ever thought of.

Did I say either would fail? No.

If you must know, I was talking mainly about this bit - "Otherwise they'll be too far behind and might get last place two generations in a row."

It wont be "very dire consequences" at all. Just because Nintendo launch a new console doesn't mean Sony and MS have to jump in straight away.
