Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Homefront has the best multiplayer I've played since COD4.

I agree, this game is worth it, no matter what every reviewer says. Yeah, It's very short, but that's that.

Yeah what the title says. This game took me by complete surprise and after reading reviews I was rethinking my decision to finish paying off my preorder. After playing this game for a 4-5 hours total and ranking up and experiencing some of the different perks, vehicles and weapons I've come to realize that this game has some of the best multiplayer in a looooong time.

The weapons, vehicles, perks are all balanced unlike some other uber popular shooter on the market (COD). There are situations in the game that make it worth using any perk at any certain time unlike some over powered perk as in COD.

The battlepoints system is miles better than killstreaks and getting rewarded for completing objectives is something that should have been done in COD a long time ago. You also get battlepoints for helping your team out such as spotting enemy players with the Parrot spotting drone.

The Battle Commander gametypes are awesome. Getting notified from an AI Battle Commander to take out an enemy player because he is on a killstreak is awesome. Or if you're on the other end and being the one selected to be taken out because you're on the killstreak yourself. What is ingenious about this system is when a player is on a killstreak he gets different star levels for how long of a killstreak he is on. Starting at 1 star and going all the way to 5 star. With each star more players from the enemy team are alerted to your presence to take you out, but you are also rewarded with buffs (special perks) to assist you in staying alive. An example of a buff is a personal UAV you recieve at star level 2.

All in all I don't regret my purchase and I urge you multiplayer lovers to buy Homefront. With enough games sold Homefront 2 will be made and with some more graphical polish it could easily be a COD killer and more.

If you're a graphics whore or a SP only player then this title isn't for you, but if you love FPS multiplayer this is a must buy.

I put this in the 360 section because I have it for the 360, I don't know what experiences PC or PS3 players are having. I will say though every person I've played with online is loving this game much more than they expected and much more than Black Ops.

Does this game have a FFA mode?  If so, have you played it? And if so to that, how does it compare to BO?

No there is no FFA gametype. There is TDM and Ground War which is like Rush from BC2 combined with Domination from COD. Then there is the Battle Commander variants of these games which is the same style but introduces the battle commander which I described above. Then there is Skirmish which has smaller teams and mixes it up between ground war and tdm. The game could have used a couple more game modes but I must say the game is fun.

Graphically its not as polished as other FPS games to come out the past few years but for some reason I just love it. There is always intense action and it almost feels like a throwback FPS. As I said earlier if you're a graphics whore you probably won't like it since it definitely is a little outdated visually.

Ill check it out since nothing can touch COD4.

And Cod 4 had good multiplayer?

Sorry but COD multi is way to overated. The level design and unbalance leaves alot to be desired.

COD4 was where the series went right. Infinity Ward had a huge hit with the first MW and created the fanbase that COD has today. That game was amazing for its time and it still is fun. It set the standard for what modern shooters are compared to. I think everyone is pretty much in agreement that game was awesome and still is.

Damn, it sucks that there is no FFA, that's a deal breaker for me. I can't stand being on teams with randoms, that's why I'm a lone wolf.

I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.

I haven't played it yet (my box is currently in repair) but by the sound of it its really good. I'm looking forward to dedicated servers and the Battlepoints system. About time a game rewarded players for playing the damn objective and not just for kills.

The only way I see Call of Duty returning to its former glory i.e. Call of Duty 4, is if they get dedicated servers and do some sort of battlepoints system to replace killstreaks, or some kind of combination of both.

Quick question: How much did THQ pay you?

2 quick questions:Have you played the game? How did you ever find the will power to pull yourself away from COD?

lol. I was just kidding, and I dislike COD. My prior posting history would show that I never mentioned being fond of it, or that I even had it, which leads me to believe that you looked at my game collection just for the sole intent of using that line.  I wasted 60 bucks on that game, and I decided that I would no longer sell any of my games after I sold a few, and suddenly had a craving for them a week later. I have no intentions of buying Homefront though, at its current price. That game appears to be worth less than 40 bucks, and I have better games to buy(Deus Ex, Modnationracers,Socom 4, and I still need Heavy Rain) Besides, Mag is the only fps I will ever need.

Its funny you mention MAG because on the Homefront website there are alot of MAG players singing Homefront's praises. I haven't played MAG but it seems that the two games must have similarities.

Please give me a link to where you saw this. I would have gotten Homefront day 1 if it was not published by THQ whose titles are synonymous with mediocrity imo and if it had a good sp, which seems to suck or so I am told.

I guess as an Xbox gamer the choice of multiplayer is split between Halo and COD. It might rain on other systems, but COD and Halo often take turns as top Live played for the month.

Personally the level design on COD is to basic. And I found COD to easy. I guess to many hours headshoting in Halo 1-Reach.
