Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Homefront has the best multiplayer I've played since COD4.

Yeah what the title says. This game took me by complete surprise and after reading reviews I was rethinking my decision to finish paying off my preorder. After playing this game for a 4-5 hours total and ranking up and experiencing some of the different perks, vehicles and weapons I've come to realize that this game has some of the best multiplayer in a looooong time.

The weapons, vehicles, perks are all balanced unlike some other uber popular shooter on the market (COD). There are situations in the game that make it worth using any perk at any certain time unlike some over powered perk as in COD.

The battlepoints system is miles better than killstreaks and getting rewarded for completing objectives is something that should have been done in COD a long time ago. You also get battlepoints for helping your team out such as spotting enemy players with the Parrot spotting drone.

The Battle Commander gametypes are awesome. Getting notified from an AI Battle Commander to take out an enemy player because he is on a killstreak is awesome. Or if you're on the other end and being the one selected to be taken out because you're on the killstreak yourself. What is ingenious about this system is when a player is on a killstreak he gets different star levels for how long of a killstreak he is on. Starting at 1 star and going all the way to 5 star. With each star more players from the enemy team are alerted to your presence to take you out, but you are also rewarded with buffs (special perks) to assist you in staying alive. An example of a buff is a personal UAV you recieve at star level 2.

All in all I don't regret my purchase and I urge you multiplayer lovers to buy Homefront. With enough games sold Homefront 2 will be made and with some more graphical polish it could easily be a COD killer and more.

If you're a graphics whore or a SP only player then this title isn't for you, but if you love FPS multiplayer this is a must buy.

I put this in the 360 section because I have it for the 360, I don't know what experiences PC or PS3 players are having. I will say though every person I've played with online is loving this game much more than they expected and much more than Black Ops.

You've piqued my interest.  I'm still on the fence about this game but am definitely looking for something to play instead of Black Ops.  I don't hate Black Ops mind you, but a change everyonce in a while would be nice.

What to do, what to do.  I hear this game has dropped to $40 on-line (amazon.com), maybe I'll pick it up from there - thanks for the write up.

It also dropped at Wal-Mart. Not to mention it also has dedicated servers.

Quick question: How much did THQ pay you?

2 quick questions:Have you played the game? How did you ever find the will power to pull yourself away from COD?

Woah woah woah, this game has dedicated servers?!

That's enough reason to pick it up!

Seriously, I hate all this match making crap, I hated when Killzone 3 went match making, I mean, it's still a great game, but I like serverlists!

I reckon I'll be picking Homefront up, but not just yet, there's too many games coming out from now until June that I've got to prioritise, however, if I do see this for like, £20-30 before June/July, I'll pick it up, otherwise I'll buy it whatever the price is in one of those months, since I'll need some games to hold me over from June-September where more games will be released, lol.

Im pretty sure dedicated servers does not mean having server list.

Does this game have a FFA mode?  If so, have you played it? And if so to that, how does it compare to BO?

I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.

This game is great, multiplayer is extremely fun and rewarding.  I agree with the poster, been playing this nonstop since i got my copy tues afternoon.  Kinda disappointed that the price dropped after i bought my copy from amazon though, but for rest of you go spend 40 bucks and buy this off amazon asap.  This game is well worth the $$$.

And Cod 4 had good multiplayer?

Sorry but COD multi is way to overated. The level design and unbalance leaves alot to be desired.

COD4 has set the benchmark in terms of modern shooters and is often referred to as one of the better of the CODs, so all in all I think he made a fair comparison when referencing to COD4, and besides I think it's more of a "If you liked COD4, you'll like this".
