That "band member" slice looks a little big....can you make a negative slice?

I've been there. The only slice up there that really deserves it is the studio, whose engineers and sound dudes do work hard and have a pretty thankless job, especially when dealing with "rock star" types.

If you want to support your favorite bands/groups/individuals go see the concert. They make more.

Holy fuck! What percent is that the record company is getting? I'd guess around 70% just looking at the pie chart. 

Unbelieveable. Don't really see the point for purchasing CD's now :/ I always heard that corporation gets a moderate slice, but that's a like f'ing 60-70% of the chart. It's very remniscent of a purple pacman eating up the music industry.

Their piece of pie is so large is due to the old structure where artists have no choice but to sign with the labels.

Thanks to teh interwebs, that pie will be a thing of the past. RIAA and the likes are fighting very hard to keep its old structure in place though. So, they won't be disappearing that quickly.
