For Sony to have sold over 450k in feb which would also be its highest non holiday sale and not say shit about, really weird.

Sony never said anything about their numbers.

And PS3 sold 491,800 in Sep 2009... the highest non holiday sale.

slim lauch?

Yeah.

Of course there a chance Sony sold more expensive PS3 this year than last year even with $50 deal... in this case the number can be less than 450k but that's less probable.

Move bundles?

You guys will like this -

March 2010 to February 2011 Sales:

Wii - 6.98m

X360 - 6.94m

That is with X360 topping Wii for most of the last year on a monthly basis. The lesson here: December matters a hell of a lot.

Looks to me like Just Dance 2 will be the best-selling third party game on a Nintendo system pretty soon as well.

Holy Hell! What is up with February?

Kinect - $257M

Move - $210M

the 257M/210M is 2011 vs 2010

A little fact:

Killzone 2 sold 296k in march 2009, I really doubt Killzone 3 will have the legs of Killzone 2.

Also March 2010 had GOW3 and Final fantasy 13 selling over 1.8 million.

So PS3 was on top for the whole of February WW? Where is this guy that told me to wait for NPD numbers because he thought PS3 was being way overtracked?

we really don't know the ps3 numbers (only microsoft and nintendo revealed their numbers). all we know it sold better than last month (more than 267,000)

No, we know it sold better than February 2010 (360k)...

25% better in sales (not unit)... PS3 in February had a $50 deal that's mean more cheaper than last year... so can be PS3 sold more than 25% units than last year to made 25% more in sales.

I guess PS3 sold over 450k last month.

I might be completly wrong but weren't the $50 deals gift cards to the stores so they wouldn't make any difference in terms of hardware revenue. Add the fact a portion of ps3s were move bundles, especially killzone 3 move bundles and it is probably 10-15% more units, around 405k. Still an amazing increase from last month.

NPD track the store sales not Sony sales... so the revenue is with the deal.

The Move bundle like @makingmusic too is another variable if I'm not consider... so can be less than 450k but 405k seems low for me.

Wii & X360 are still tracking way ahead of PS2 over the past 12 months:

Wii Months 41-52: 6.98m (PS2: 4.84m)

X360 Months 53-64: 6.94m (PS2: 5.23m)

* PS2 in Dec 2004 sold only 1m so it did really well in 2005. Sony's Christmas shipment got stuck in the Suez Canal.

Oh that's a gift card... not a deal... I guess you pay $249 but not you pay $299 and receive a $50 gift card for the next purchase.

So you is right.

PS3 models/bundles price:

$349 PS3 320GB Move
$349 PS3 320GB
$299 PS3 169GB Killzone 3
$299 PS3 160GB

That's seem the same price from the last year... the only differece is the bundles last year was selling by $399 (not $349 like this year).

One of the wildcards in the USA this year is unemployment. Its dropped below 9% for the first time in about two years in February, from a high of around 11%.

Some of the bigger states, Michigan in particular, have really started to see a hell of alot more people employed once again.

In 2007-2008, when the USA industry was gangbusters, unemployment was around 6-8% if memmory serves. The doubling of the unemployment rate from 2006 to late 2009 didn't exactly help the gaming industry. Presumably a couple million console users, or more, lost everything in that time frame.
