Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Who has the Best Start to 08?

I'm guessing Mario Kart Wii will end up as a November release.

Wii Fit isn't dated either, is it? If they can't catch up with Japan sales, I would guess it won't come until April or later.

"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.

SSBB mops Spring 08.

Whoa, Harvest Moon Wii will be out that soon? *adds to list*

There is no such thing as a console war. This is the first step to game design.

i didn't know that endless ocean hadn't been released there yet. I love this game

Probably the Wii. There are probably some good titles for the other systems, but none that will rake in sales. The again, Brawl will probably appeal to those who already have a Wii, so in that light none may have an amazing start.

I think Haze will be the first "big hit" on the PS3. While I myself don't own a PS3 I have a friend who does and I'd really like to see him get something nice to play.

(JOKE, the above was a JOKE)

As an RTS fan, I'm very excited about the huge "RTS drop" coming to the 360 in Feb: S. commander, World in Conflict, and Universe at War all seem to have good potential. At least one is bound to be decent.

My 360 can blog!

Gamers have 3 choices this generation: The Exercise Machine, the Movie Machine, or the Game Machine.  What kind of gamer are you?

The question was who has the best start. Obviously some posters in this thread are working off some twisted curve scale. One or two strong titles do not offset a heaping helping of shovel ware or delayed ports. I actually think the Wii falls third in line. Two rock solid titles do not cover enough territory to offset a whole lot of crap, or extremely niche titles.

The 360 and the PS3 share half a dozen solid titles. That cover enough variety to satisfy most. Further more the 360 has a few more decent exclusive titles beyond that. There is a greater volume of highly anticipated, and highly rated games on both the 360 and the PS3. Finally the selection is much more diverse. For all the talk about Smash Brothers if someone doesn't like fighting games what do they have left.

1. 360 more solid titles, greater variation, significant exclusives, strong volume.
2. PS3 half a dozen solid titles, great variation, a notable exclusive, small volume.
3. Wii a few strong titles, niche variation, hand me a shovel, little kid games.

I would agree that it looks like 2/3rds of the Wii lineup is crap shovelware. The rest is mediocre at points, with only SSBB being the uber-title.

Whereas the PS3 and X360 have a bunch of mid level NMH-sized games.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

I'd say SSBB is the best title, but overall 360 has a better line-up.
I'd put them at 360, PS3, Wii for quality titles (unless some titles like Rygar really surprise) but Wii will still dominate sales irregardless.

Obviously SSB:B is the biggest title there (by a factor of 2 or so). Endless Ocean, No More Heroes and other cool Wii games will be fun also, but they're well matched on the 360 and PS3. Without SSB:B, I'd say it's close enough to depend on how good the individual games end up being.

The 360 has the best first2 monthline up, followed by wii and ps3=.
