I have information that a next gen console will be debuting next fall. My company just got commissioned for making a next gen cpu for one of the console makers, and they need us to push it so they can make launch of next fall. Not going to disclose any more than that.

Ah yes, people with masters degrees working 17 hr a day jobs are lazy morons. You is smart. Anyone that says that devs are "lazy" just because they cant get the PS3 versions up to snuff with 360 need to STFU because they dont have a CLUE about programming, the industry, and how hard programmers have to work on their games (I work for AMD - ECE Masters - and also have a computer science minor - I've programmed an operating system and freakin know how intense it is even writing single threaded code. Multi threaded code is about 15 times as complicated at high levels.). You guys are just idiots sitting on your couch, wanting people to crap out your games without an inkling of an idea what it takes to produce it.

Yeah so like we might have some more evidence. I wonder which core they would base their designs upon? Llano would be old by that time so maybe next generation Bobcat? Or maybe next generation Bulldozer? On 28nm they could easily swing a design which has 4 cores @ 2.0Ghz and 320SP @ 100mm^2 or something random, I pulled it out of my ass based off Ontarios size/power figures.

Interesting...

However, is it really evidence, some random posters saying that they work for a company? Could be wishful thinking. But those figures look awesome, and I'd love a Wii with that power, should be of a reaosnable price as well!

Also, the Wii was UP in America by more than 20% YoY last month, surely that's not a sign its d00med. Its selling PS360 numbers each week, so it isn't selling poorly...

But there's a lot of rumours going around now, even just in this thread...so, who knows?

EDIT**

"I used to work for HVS. If you buy this game, you support slave labor"

Found on Destructoid site...does this mean that HVS uses sweat shops? Doubt it.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

The DS wasn't selling poorly before they announced the replacement. Yeah it could actually be Microsofts console as well because they recently made some hirings. What is known is that we're on the console development warpath to the next generation with one, two or all three players ramping up. The rumours won't come out the same as last time as the industry itself has had quite a few of the leaks plugged. For instance where were the rumours of the 3DS before the announcement? We actually had more PSP2 rumours than 3DS ones and the 3DS just came out!

In the end it is probably more likely than not that Nintendo has a new console on the way. They don't have to set any technical benchmarks and they are the console maker who will benefit most in the next generation by being the first out with a viable console. When is a question which is probably bounded inside a 9 month window from the start of 2012 to the end of 2012, thats my estimation.

As for the edit: Well he was talking about how hard they worked staff... that isn't hard to pick from the statement.

Remember that the 3DS' initial announcement arrived specifically because they were aware of an inevitable leak, so they've just grown more aware of the leaks but not necessarily how to stop them

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Highly unlikely.

It reallt bugs me when analysts, in particular, keep throwing the old "underpowered, therefore, needs to upgrade asap or it will perish" argument.
When will they realize that (HD) visuals don`t make or brake a console? Did PS1 need an upgrade to beat N64 by almost 3:1, despite being inferior when compared to N64? No it didn`t. PS1 had winning (aka great games for everyone)!

Even if Wii would get a HD version now, what would that change? Would the install base change that much as to appeal to 3rd parties? Wii`s market is already set in stone. No HD console would change that: there wouldn`t be HD games to back up the WiiHD, nor there would be people owning it in great numbers to increase Wii`s hardcore market. A few more years would have to pass for that to happen. But then again, would people really buy a WiiHD when there`s PS3 and Xbox360 with 5/6 years of awesome games already?

Wii`s been selling less then during it`s peak time, but it`s selling well worldwide - except for Japan, it`s biggest concern.

E3`s just around the corner. Nintendo will announce a good amount of games to keep us entertained untill 2012. That`s why, Wii 2, for me, will only come late 2012.

Speaking to IndustryGamers, EA Games label head Frank Gibeau hinted at the fact that Nintendo knows the situation and is working on another platform. "When you look at Nintendo, for a while there, it was all about the Wii being the biggest entertainment platform ever and capturing the mass market, and it faded away. Now, they’re coming back with a second act. I think they know that. They’re very self-aware as an organization and a very powerful brand," he said.

Interestingly, Gibeau also lumped the Wii into the same category as PS2 - a "legacy console."  He continued, "They understand the dynamics and the fact that HD consoles is a booming part of business right now. Legacy platforms like PS2 and the Wii have dropped off significantly. They’re not stupid. They’re going to figure something out. They’re going to come back at it."

"[Wii] is a tough market for a third party. When I look at a development dollar in terms of which teams do I invest in, and what platforms to go at, they’re not very competitive when you look at HD consoles, or free-to-play bets, or things like tablets and handsets. It’s something they need to think seriously about with their next gen - how serious is a third party development community for them on their next platform and their next bet? They can get to a certain level of success with their own IPs and their own internal development, but if they don’t have that developer ecosystem where it’s frankly easy to make money on the platform, they’re going to see there are too many opportunities in the world right now to go build games on other platforms in a very successful high quality, highly profitable way. They need to take note of that," Gibeau offered.

Points of note:

1. He pretty much states outright that the Wii 2 is incoming.

2. He says that Wii as an ecosystem is uncompetive against many other eco-systems which he finds more profitable such as PC free-to-play, tablets, iOS and HD consoles which is his reason obviously for the lack of Wii support.

i clicked "...it's Nintendo, kiddy...who cares?" because i thought it was a funny response

He doesn`t say anything really relevant besides the fact - with which no one can disagree - Nintendo does need to improve their 3rd party relationships and that could start with Wii 2 being a powerful console. One that allows them to easily port titles and not habing to do something from the ground up to fit Wii`s visuals; improve online service, etc.

It would be cool to launch it maybe Christmas 2011 in Europe and Japan, and then Christmas 2012 in the US since they don't seem to want it as soon as we do here.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.
