I don't think of this as a victory. It's just about making people see sense. When I was a fanboy, over ten years ago, I was furious at Square for leaving Nintendo, until I learned there was a damn good reason (crappy profit margin for the carts), so I realized sense is a lot better than narrow-mindedness.

This has nothing to do about being a fanboy.

Well forgive me for only knowing those games that were released in the U.S. and worldwide, and not those that only remained in Japan.

I want a Mario RPG, using the Galaxy engine - set in the Galaxy universe. That would just be.... too awesome. Galaxy was touching on it at points as well.

Same here. But I don't want the Galaxy universe. I want a totally new one. Oh, and no more Bowser for the last boss. That's why I like PM. They have NEW enemies for last bosses (save for the original PM). But what I would like is SMRPG2 for Wii.

Why don't they make Bowser turn a new leaf and be a good guy for once? that would be cool to have Mario, Luigi, Bowser all on the same team. it would be like a strike force that gets its power from a mushroom.

There's a difference between simply not knowing and not doing the research.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

Or maybe just have some kind of greater evil. You know, do the classic 'bad guy uses a greater evil to try and take over, but it ends up getting out of his/her control so he/she has to team up with the heros' type of thing.

About this whole thing with "milking" with Mario. Happy Squrriel gave some good reasons why Mario is used in so many games. It's the familiarity and it does cut expenses. Also Stof gave good reason why Mario Party is "Mario Party" instead of completely new franchise. A variety of characters with personality is something you get when you have been developing videogames for 3 decades and creating many new franchises, although Nintendos most popular franchise is only a spinoff.

I would like add one reason why Mario is so popular, Mario games live up to expectations and they don't repeate themselves (aside from Mario Party, but considering the gameplay in Mario Party, there's only a little room for changes), and offer something new in every new game, while the "normal" way of doing sequels is just making new levels and possibly even new story to othewise the same old game.

Er... See "Super Mario RPG"? No Luigi but still.

That would make so little sense... I don't know why you like the DMC series so much Soriku. It doesn't seem to do anything too remarkable that other games don't do. Have you actually played a DMC game or are you pulling a Leo-J? Megaman to me needs to be a 1st 3-D or a GOOD 3rd person shooter. Metroid prime like would be the way to go I think. Megaman really wouldn't be great for the hand to hand fighting part of DMC... street fighter training or not. Maybe Zero... but even then... seems unlikely. A RTS or SRPG Megaman i could see working. Could you imagine building your own robot grunts, led by more expensive robot masters and having them battle?

We know Nintendo is banking on Mario for some games. The point is IT PAYS OFF. You think other developers haven't tried to make their own cash cows?

Using and reusing the same character? No.

Can you name me one game developer that has used one character in as many games?

Sega, Sonic.
