Forums - Sony Discussion - why are so many ps3 games undertracked?

why are so many ps3 games undertracked?

gt5 is undertracked 46 29.87%

gt5 is where it should be 36 23.38%

all ps3 games are undertracked 72 46.75%

Total:154

IMO.

All PS3 games are undertracked? No. That's not the case.

Others consoles games are undertracked? Yeap.

But PS3 games seems more undetracked than 360/Wii games? Yes... just read the next question.

Why?

Sony has been selling games in a lot more countries than Microsft and Nintento and there are just three big tracking services for VGC correct your data: NPD (US), MC/Famitsu (Japan) and Chart-Track (a few contries in Europe) .

So VGC is a very good and accurate trackin service for US, Japan and few contries in Europe (UK, German, France, etc)... but it receive no data from Latin America, Asia and Middle east.

Because that the games are undertracked... and that affect more PS3 because it had more sales in   Latin America, Asia and Middle east than others consoles.

 And GT5?

The first shippement was 5.5m and the second shippment happen in 31th Dec... so in 31th Dec GT5 sold near 5.5m to force Sony to ship more 830k million.

VGC had GT5 at 5 million in 31th Dec... so seem a little undertracked... I guess 300k in EMEAA (not in big contries but the small combined).

See ya.

There are plenty of games that are overtracked/undertracked. Ship numbers provided by the manufacturers do not equal sales numbers, that is where most of the difference comes from. The numbers provided are not perfect. Vgchartz provides numbers based on the data they have; if additional data is acquired, adjustments are made as warranted.

Perhaps, the numbers should only be taken as an estimate or a snapshot at best. Not sure why some get so worked up over it. No one is going to have the exact sold numbers.

Shipped and sold are two completely different things.

well i'm sorry i hate to see games under or overtracked (espeically when people are literaly trolling on GT5 wall.

This site should do something about it

Undertracked or not but as long as there are no sources for numbers that would be closer to the supposed truth, I don't think the number are going to change. You can't change the numbers just because 'there can't be so many copies on the shelves'.

Just a thought.

They do, when they have data which indicates adjustments should be made.

i woudn't mind if they use some common sense and estimate doesn't have to be that exact but 300-500g copies is actually a bid deal!

i really wish vg could tell us how they track there european data! i also wish to know how did halo reach get such a close launch to GT5! It had a bigger launch than that game everywhere including the U.K! Please don't think i'm trolling vgchartz i just want to know the true GT5 sales. Or else there is no way i'm upgrading to VG Pro!

They're not at all that undertracked, remember the shipped numbers are not the sold numbers, one company can ship 1 million to stores and only sell 700k units, and in my contry Sony ship a lots of games to stores sometimes the number is so huge and they stay there for months

Valkyria Chronicles is almost certainly overtracked

*runs and hides*
