Forums - Gaming Discussion - Star Ocean 4. Why so underappreciated?

Well, i'm playing Star Ocean 4 on PS3 with japanese voices on and english subtitles, and i have a confession to make: i am enjoying it much more than Final Fantasy XIII, storywise and gameplay-wise.

I am 19 hours into the game and on ****SPOILERS - past planet Earth - SPOILERS**** . Will the story go downhill from some point? I can't believe that anyone who likes JRPG not praising this game on a generation so dry of the genre.

IMHO, Lymle is a character much better than most on Final Fantasy XIII.  Overall there is good character interaction on this game and i disagree when people say this game is full of dolls, uninteresting and boring characters.

If today someone asks me what good JRPG game to play i will say without a doubt: Star Ocean 4 International.

I don't know.... I mean I got this game because I appreciate that they included the Japanese voice, I would virtually get any crap JRPG for this inclusion as a reward to developer who understand their fan but yea... I never did play it. Its still sitting in the shelf right next to a crap load of other RPG I never got time to play.

Meanwhile I've actually finished FFXIII which has one of the most rubbish plot ever.

Maybe it is because my hype was very low for this game and got surprised. I played Star Ocean 3 until the end and did not like it very much. I played Star Ocean 2 but did not have steem to finish it. But with Star Ocean 4 i want to know what is gonna happen. I care about characters and the world.

am 212hrs into that game since i bought it last yr i give it a break so that this yr i could play it over on universe diffcult and everythin would b like a fresh experience althought its hard to forget a game as good as that. trust me this game is the best jrpg on the ps3 to date ff13 is alright! but not worth a replay at all ! this was underratted cause of it comin on xbox 360 first and it wasnt given solid reviews so by the time it came out the folllowin yr on ps3 people already had the mind set it wasnt good! so thats y u would hardly find any tak about it! i just hope they make it a nxt 1! long live star ocean!

the only thing i don't like about it is playing as kids that is in their mid teens, and I think one of them was like 9. the english voices was really done badly. thats all. I want my money back.

This game was pretty fun. It's nice to see the game suddenly go back from 4 characters in battle. In SO3 you could only use 3 in one battle but that didn't make it less fun.

I've never been a fan of the series, I've actually enjoyed more WRPG in my history than JRPG since I live in Australia and getting JRPG before this gen has been pretty hard. That said, I enjoy anime so the transition to JRPG was natural and my PS / PS2 days were filled with happiness on the few mainstream JRPG that made it to our humble shore...

But yea, maybe I'll give this a try, right now though I'm busy playing the Witcher on my PC and Atelier Rorona.

alot of people didnt like how the final boss was formed.....lol. its a good game to me i think the achievements are ridiculous but its great.

I loved the game and yea the final boss sucked and made me go WTF?! lol i loved every single SO game so i had to play this one.  This was the first SO game where i didn't do everything possible simply because i didn't have the time.

i'm currently playing this on Ps3 too, and i have to agree the game deserves more attention
