Seen a better tech a year ago, Unreal Engine is meh.

I don't want new consoles for another two years still but damn graphics like that sure would be amazing!  Makes me excited at least to see what next-gen will look like, and Epic are incredible when it comes to building engines and horsepower so I'm sure they know what their talking about.

I suggest they start working on 4, those screenshots look like Batman: AA, which came out in 2009.

I think your completley misunderstandin the OP.  Epic isn't claiming this is the greatest tech demo ever made, they are saying this is the caliber they expect in-game graphics to be during the next-gen.  Which I agree I HIGHLY doubt we'll see better quality than this next gen for IN GAME graphics.  It would be FAR too expensive to create software / hardware that could runner higher fidelity models than this.

Maybe the art style looks like that. But I doubt even High end PCs could render this at anything higher than 10 FPS on 1920x1080, lol.

Look at the texture's resolution, the lack of jaggies even with MSAA turned off (the only thing that has jaggies without MSAA seems to be the cigarette :P), the lightning effects, the ammount of polygons in the face of the character, the tessellation, etc... It's totally impossible on current consoles.

Batman Arkham Asylum looks like crap compared to this :S it's nowhere near it.

Did you see the pics in the source at their full resolution?

And I read this is just a middleware engine.

Ughhhh that looks uninspired..... I'd rather have strong artstyles please.
