Forums - PC Discussion - Anyone gotten into the Crysis 2 PC multiplayer demo?

So it seems that EA weren't prepaired for the amount of interest for this demo as the log on servers and the myCrysis site was down and is still having problems "SQL error too many connections" type errors. So has anyone managed to actually get into the demo? Some people have managed it aparently but I have not had any luck yet.

Just finished two rounds. Honestly, I'm not that impressed with it as it was literally a carbon copy of Call of Duty's multiplayer with better graphics and some nanosuit abilities taking the place of perks. Hell, it even has a damn kill cam.

I'm also upset that you can't seem to adjust the graphical settings in-depth so I have no idea what settings make up what I'm seeing. From what I understand, hardcore seems like it's the best, but I'm not quite sure we're looking at the very best the engine is able to output especially since you can't look at all the individual graphical settings (at least not in-game from what I could tell).

I was running 1920x1080 with the 'hardcore' graphics setting and I was getting 75fps. Sure, it looks nice, but I'm a little skeptical with the frame rate being so high (this is a Crysis game after all :P ) so I'm wondering if we're seeing the engine's full graphical prowess or do we just have to wait till the full game comes out to see the hardware explode trying to render each frame? I mean it was a pretty small download (1.7gigs) as many retail games nowadays need 10 gigs so I'm assuming we'll be seeing more impressive graphics come launch day.

On a final note.... I could tolerate Killzone 2's pseudo 3D effect because it only took place during the loading screen and you had to tilt the controller around to do it. The menu pseudo 3D effect for Crysis 2's menu system is HORRIBLE as it tilts the menu away from where your mouse pointer is and it's making me sick as I try to focus on navigating the menus. I think that the only workaround for it is to use the arrow keys though.

Frankly, to me multiplayer feels like a letdown so I'm a bit curious to see how the singleplayer works.

so after managing to get in and play a few rounds on each map and game mode it's...

Ok...

I am not really a big competitive shooter guy tho, I mean it's fun but doesn't seem anything special. The graphics (on advance as I like a smoth framerate and my PC isn't exactly top of the line) are good but not mind blowing, i'm not really a fan of the fuzzy effect that you get from modern deffered rendering on certan distant objects but that's probably just me.

Kill cams have been around way longer then COD has had it.... the game Soldat probably had the first.

Isn't that a multiplayer sidescroller shooter? lol, I remember playing that with other people during class years ago.

I don't mean to suggest that Call of Duty series was the first one to have it, but with everything else including the killcam, to me it feels like it's a copy of Call of Duty's multiplayer and not even that great at that.

I heard some pretty disapoointing things about the PC multiplayer demo. Why didn't Crytek just release a single-player demo like everybody wanted is beyond me. Now a lot of people are shrugging it off as some COD knockoff.

yeh im playing the multiplayers great the suit powers really make the game standout the keys are similar to cod but thats about it theres just some noobs up in here

:(

It looks terrible. Why are the config files encrypted? 'Press Start to Begin' and auto-aim, ffs. And the default FoV is dreadful, just look at this shit- when you run, it goes to the default, then snaps back when you stop. Ridiculous.
