If you MB has the PCIE slot, there's no reason why it wouldn't work.

PCIE should already be in every MB for at least 5 years or maybe more. Don't remember since I have selective amnesia and this isn't one of the things I remember in details.

So, unless your system is so old that I can't load facebook, it probably has a PCIE slot.

Another thing to be worried about is if it will fit in your case. Will the layout of your case fit the Graphics card? I actually had a case where the layout was weird and wouldn't fit a certain graphics card, and I had to downgrade.

And make sure it'll fit on your motherboard as well. These graphics cards are HUGE, and sometimes there could be a random heatsink on your motherboard that won't interfere with the card.

And last but not least; THE POWER SUPPLY. Make sure your power supply has enough wattage to support this. If it's the stock power supply [the one you bought with the pre-built computer], then I highly recommend you upgrade to something like 400 or 500W.

All that what Galaki said about the PCI slot are all the things you should make sure about your computer. Here is a picture of a PCI-Express x16 slot:

PS: The two white ones on the left are normal PCI slots, usually outdated these days. The small black ones are PCI-Express x1, which are used in some things [for example, I use it in my HDMI Video Capture Card].

I'd say at least 500W depending on the rest of your system:

According to the dell site, your desktop has PCI-E, so you should be good.

I would strongly urge you to consider the GTX570 instead. Unless you are running mutliple monitors or have 3D vision, you really don't need the GTX580. Even with Crysis 2 and battlefield 3, this card is an overkill.

GTX580 is for those freaks who have to have the latest tech at all times(who resell their gear every 6 months to get the latest stuff), or who are running multiple monitors with 3D vision... Besides the card will tank in price as soon as the GTX590 comes out. Look at what happened to the GTX480.

This. I doubt you'd ever need the 580's power. If you do not, look at the GTX 570 (and 6970), whichever is cheaper for you

What do you plan to run on it and at what resolution?

Go with NVidia and avoid ATI if you do gaming on it.

ATI have shitty software/driver. That way, you'd have more time on gaming rather than troubleshooting.
