Of course they will settle... but how.  Will LG insist on a royalty for every PS3 sold ever, which would be retrospective, or a one off payment?

Royalties hold more profit and stability in them than a lump sum does... I say royalities.

2011 is a good year for gamers, a challenging one for Sony.

wrong.  they would like as huge of a lump sum as they can get.  if royalties are included that a bonus

money now is gauranteed and ALSO they can use that money to reinvest.  A dollar today is worth more than a dollar tommorrow.

PS3 may end up selling a billion consols or selling 0 more.  they may make a trillion on royalties or 0.  but a lump sum is guaranteed and they can then reinvest it.

First thing is first, LG will collect money on ps3s already sold in Europia (My name for the EU nations)....LUMP SUM, so regardless of LG decides for the future, if the case continues in their favour....they are collecting money.

Hopefully more people will take notice of that line

OT: sigh

hopefully... it kinda confirms what I have said for years now.... shipped for Sony means pre-ordered by retailers.

....and you do know they mean pre-ordered by retailers and not consumers right? and you do know they are referring to sony warehouses and not retailers warehouses right?

? I'm not sure what you intend by asking those two last Q's to be frank. Shipped to SOny OBVIOUSLY meant to retailers and apparently they are sold pretty quickly hence the continued pre order numbers for it

the point is they are not stuffing the channels to show 'fake' numbers like some morons tend to say in shipment figure threads. they ship cuz they sell and what they ship will sell, end.

Chill. They'll settle.

I like LG though, they make good products now. My next big screen TV is gonna be from LG.

I think you meant sold to sony means shipped to retailers as they have already pre-odered them. Which goes for all three 3 consoles.

Personally I am suprised no one made jokes like "Life's not good for sony!" Or "Sony could sure use a Lucky Goldstar". Both very lame I know, but I bet someone can come up with one better.

Hope LG and Sony settle this soon! I dont want anyone to miss out on the joys of PS3

Well one thing about this is abundantly clear from this case. Sony does not own blu-ray.

Anyone can guess. It takes no effort to throw out lots of predictions and have some of them be correct. You are not and wiser or better for having your guesses be right. Even a blind man can hit the bullseye.

hey, if the court rules that LG is to recieve a share of the PS3 profits until now, LG might end up paying Sony

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

didn't lg sue sony only because sony originally sued them. Seems like a very dumb thing to do knowing their ps3s could potentially have legal issues. Hopefully this all gets sorted out soon though.
