Forums - Sony Discussion - LG gets injunction against PS3 sales in Europe!?

"Sony, which imports around 100,000 of the consoles a week"

"The consoles are being stockpiled in Dutch warehouses until it becomes clear how the case will develop."

" The Japanese manufacturer is understood to have a stockpile of around 6,500 PS3s in Germany and 10,000 in the UK"

"the majority of PS3 sales around Europe are pre-orders, meaning they are already sold before they gather dust at warehouses in the UK and elsewhere. Stockpiles could run out within two to three weeks if the ban is not lifted, the Guardian understands"

Perhaps Sony should take some lawyers of Geohotz case and put them to use here?

I remember people saying LG will lose, and now they are winning. Kind of funny.

Like I said in the past thread where sony is losing.....now sony it is your move.

sony needs to send the german police against LG, lol

but in all seriousness, i just don't get things like this.  Not that i don't get the lawsuit or stuff like that, i just don't get why stuff like this never seems to get brought to the table until some product is out in the market for like 4 years.

wtf was LG doing the last four years?  or even before ps3 launched?  why did they not do anything till now?  or was some stupid legal things holding stuff up until just now?

Of course they will settle... but how.  Will LG insist on a royalty for every PS3 sold ever, which would be retrospective, or a one off payment?

Royalties hold more profit and stability in them than a lump sum does... I say royalities.

2011 is a good year for gamers, a challenging one for Sony.

its a good year for gamers when one of the bug 3 concole sellers cant sell their console?

Anyway, since this is with the "International Trade Commission" could this happen in the United States as well?

wrong.  they would like as huge of a lump sum as they can get.  if royalties are included that a bonus

money now is gauranteed and ALSO they can use that money to reinvest.  A dollar today is worth more than a dollar tommorrow.

PS3 may end up selling a billion consols or selling 0 more.  they may make a trillion on royalties or 0.  but a lump sum is guaranteed and they can then reinvest it.

LOL this is hilarious!

Come on SONY, lawyer the ass out of them!

 @ LG
