Forums - Nintendo Discussion - (Rumor) Optical media for next NIntendo Console

lol physical media will always be around. People like owning something they cna touch when they purchase it because it makes them happy.

Digital distirbution is impractical because of internet speeds, download limits and because effectively you are turing a consoel into a computer so your installing games now. The reason MOST people get a console is so they can put the game in and play. Granted some have installs (pissed of about this myself) but not as big as PC games.

Consoles are meant to be easy for the user and not time consuming to play a game. That is why I am hoping NIntnedo dont do optial but solid state memory. To elminate the need to installa and unistall games.

I just don`t know where to start with the critic on the article, mainly because i can`t see how he connects so many thoughts as he did.
So he seems to think that optical media will get in the way of a impending download system of games for consoles - impending seeing as he refers MS and Sony growing service - but on Nintendo`s side of course. I know that all three offer full downloadable games, but so does Nintendo, with it`s limitations of course, but only Steam has a real weight on the whole digital media vs physical media. Does he believe that MS and Sony will grow the digital media service to a point where the physical media will just be an option? He`s got to assume this since he only puts a warning sign on Nintendo`s side.

Then he steps back and adds a Wii is in peril since MS and SOny have their motion interface as well. What`s that got to do with Wii2 and the topic above? Me thinks that in his mind Nintendo won`t have a chance next generation since MS and Sony have motion controls, too. Combine that with HD and Nintendo has nothing to offer for Wii2.

This is the perfect example of the Wii is doomed articles that started when Wii was introduced.
People are just waiting for an opportunity to say "haha, i told you so. Fail!".
Either people hate the Wii and can`t stand it selling more than the real games' consoles or - seeing as everyone spells doom on Wii`s wrongs - is it fear?
That`s it! All these naysayers or just Nintendo fanboys in disguise that don`t believe Nintendo`s way and are all always afraid of it`s demise and, therefore, live in a state of predoom! :D

So an article about the possibility of the next Nintendo home console utilizing optical media becomes a completely baseless rant regarding the included digital distribution service and current generation feature sets?

How does one even segway into that?

To even include the phrase "we feel" completely removes any objectivity the article even had.  It goes from news to editorial.

Doesn't state optical media in the source article, just physical media. And next gen should be solid state!

You've got it exactly backwards. This is an instant classic! Taking a completely random bit of fabrication, claiming its news, and turning it into a chance to incoherently bash Nintendo. This is gaming journalism at its finest, its most hard-hitting, these are heroes of the medium at work.
