3DS was released yesterday in Japan and in a few week the rest of the world'll receive NIntendo's new handheld. Generations are mostly a convenient way to know about a specifc group of consoles that are released in a time period; some people think a lot aout this refering to specific events or common features, anyway Are we in new generation???

Generations are never set by handhelds. So no.

No. It starts with a home console.

There's a reason people don't like to comapre handhleds and home consoles.  I say no. 

Nope. Handhelds don't start generations.

Maybe in Japan, but the rest of the world laughs.

Yeah. It's the eighth generation of videogames, people. Not home consoles.

It is the beginning of a new era.

That's the point actually and the funny thing is that this generation has seen a much bigger growth with handhelds and mobiles.

Handhelds and home consoles are the same to me so yeah, I'd say it started.
