Forums - Sony Discussion - SOCOM Gameplay actually LOOKS GREAT!

YES! People are liking it!  B_E_L_I_E_V_E in SOCOM!  I can't wait, so pumped! I'll be playing this for years lol.

because getting stabbed in the balls is definitely enough to kill a dude x_x

oh and she's freaking hot O_o

Finally looks promising, now I'm looking forward to the Beta.

Looks pretty good but a lot different from the originals. I want to play as a US Navy SEAL team not as some UN shit and some South Korean chick.

Aren't one or two of them straight Seals, and I thought the Team Leader was.  I mean, as long as they nail the mechanics I can't complain.  Also, please bring back PMN mines, those were too much fun lol.

Exactly, it was called SOCOM:US Navy SEALs for a reason. I want to play stealthy realistic missions in real locations like the ps2 games. Not the all out shooting, gun fights in the middle of the street they have shown so far. This video by far is the only good thing I have seen from this game so far.Unfourtantly that's not enough to earn a purchase from me.

I completely agree with you man. I'd be more excited for SOCOM 2 or 3 being remade in HD than this game.

The only thing that I still have issues with is the fact that the game seems to have too much of an arcade feel to me, I hope it hasnt lost its sense of realism because this is what made socom games so much fun, how grounded of an experience it was.  I really want to like this game to, so heres to hoping, and this video definitely improved my outlook.

this is my favorite vid of socom i think it pretty awesome shows it alittle less arcadey little more realistic. Also its the first level i think so spoiler alert.

OT- not bad. still getting it just need a sharpshooter and game.

That is a good vid, but im telling you I cant shake this feeling.  Is it the character design?  The level design?  I dont know if this socom game is gonna cut it, I was hoping for a much more military oriented approach instead of a call of duty/bad company style of single player campaign.  I think it is a combination of the character designs and choice of levels, zipper couldve really nailed this one had they stuck to their military operations scheme from previous entries and gone the much more realistic route, but instead they decided to mainstream this one.  I cant blame them from a financial standpoint, but this still seems like a bit of a copout to me.

Not to double post, but I guess I expected something much different than what im seeing in these videos.  With portal 2 and motorstorm releasing so closely, I dont think I can justify spending 60 bones on a socom game that just doesnt seem too socom-ish tbh.  Like I tell everyone else though, you dont know until you try and since I got kz3 at launch, Ill give the beta a whirl and hopefully that will change my mind, or Ill just give in to the change in direction and take it for what it is.
