Police Raid Graf_Chokolo's House - In Response Graf Releases "Hypervisor Bible"

Graf_chokolo, who has contributed countless things to the PS3 scene, had his private home raided by police this morning. They confiscated all of his "accounts" and anything related to PS3 hacking. Some of you may remember that graf_chokolo promised if he was pushed, that he would release all of his PS3 hypervisor knowledge to the world. He kept good on this promise releasing what is being dubbed as the Hypervisor Bible. "The uploaded files contains his database which is a series of tools for the PS3′s Hypervisor and Hypervisor processes. It will help other devs to reverse engineer the hypervisor of PS3 further."

I don’t know how to say this but graf_chokolo, the man who contributed a lot to the scene has recently been caught off by Sony and the Police. They went to his house to grab all his accounts and stuff, yeah could be anything related to his findings on the PS3 security.
Guys, SONY was today at my home with police and got all my stuff and accounts. So be careful from now on.
He keep his promised though by releasing all his knowledge on the HV reversing. The uploaded files contains his database which is a series of tools for the PS3′s Hypervisor and Hypervisor processes. It will help other devs to reverse engineer the hypervisor of PS3 further. You can find the following (Based on the folders in the archive):
* Dump LV2 Reversing
* HV Dump of 3.15 Reversing
* HV Dump of 3.41 Reversing
* HV Dump of 3.55 Reversing
* Payloads
Guys, i don’t joke, it’s serious.
And to prove it, i kept my word and uploaded all my HV reversing stuff.

Upload it everywhere so SONY couldn’t remove it easily. Grab it guys, it contains lots of knowledge about HV and HV procs.
Special thanks to Chad_Conn for being the first to post this news here!

Yeah grab it guys. I guess it is time I reveal my true identity to all of vgchartz. I don't joke Graf_chokolo.

man sony could have aa PR victory by working with these guys to fix security and maybe restore the other OS option, but they just go out and try to stop it, which makes the issue worse. unless the guy was activly priating i have sypathy for him.

the harder sony squeezes the more control slips through thier hands

Sony had better get tight security on everything because I don't think the hackers are going to take too kindly to this form of attention.

Tease.

If there's one thing that is red rag to hackers it's being stomped on by the man. It's just going to galvanise more hackers to get into the action.

I think Sony is banking on being able to put at least a few of the people inolved behind bars or fined to hell. The guy who ended up spending 3 years in jail for having taken the Half-life 2 source code seemed to have decided he had better things to spend his life on for example. And if they succeed the hackers out there will know that yes, they can break the Sony security systems, but they would have to be prepared to go to jail for it.

So from their viewpoint I don't think they are making a major mistake, they are just making sure that everyone knows that enabling piracy and cheating on Sony devices has a cost.

unless what happened to BHGary happens to them, then it could destory stock value, or they could lose in court in the states and validate hackers, i could really see that happening the way dmca has been interprited recently

Wow I can't understand those type of decisions, defending your product is all and well but this type of publicity and the internet where people can hide behind masks, retaliation is all that this shit attracts.

I don't think the hackers can really cause much more harm at this point, the cat is out of the bag. And if they loose at least they (and other console makers) will know that for future devices they can not rely on legal protection to deter having their systems hacked. The way I see it is that Sony at worst ends up with status quo, at best they have created a strong deterent for future devices.

Also it has to be said that the chokolo guy is behaving in a rather stupid way here, if this goes to court the best defence he could have made is the one geohotz is making, that he was just working to restore functionality to his system that was taken away and he had no monetary interest. But by first threatening to release the code if Sony moved against him and then doing it, he has created a situation where Sonys lawyers can claim in court he released the code for the explicit reason for causing Sony financial harm, which leaves him with a much weaker defence.

Lol...Sony's Global police state continues to expand...one really has to wonder at how people are going to react to this in the hacker community.
