Well the 40gb has allowed the PS3 to finally be competitive, I'll give it that. But ww it's not actually catching up to the 360 at all. And if it wins Europe but loses NA it'll be in a very bad state. As aside from racers, and Euro sports, 360 will continue to be the primary system for pretty much all western games, as NA is the primary market for them.

Casual games do better in Europe than NA, but that's not the PS3's strength, it's Wii's.

Japan won't help much either considering PS3's getting creamed by Wii there and I expect 75% of Japanese games will goto Wii.

PS3 needs to close the gap in NA.

But what the OP is saying is basically a current look at the state of the PS3 when considering its past.
As of right now - it is doing as good as it could be after such a disaster of a start.
This is of course if you do not read into the situation very closely.

But overall, I am happy Its all good for gaming.

I made the prediction a long time ago, and it would be wrong for me to change it to something else at this point. It wouldn't be a prediction if I could keep updating as things go on.

By the looks of things, I'll probably be wrong. I didn't forsee so many PSP surges to make things how they are now.

Sony and Nintendo are simply demolishing Microsoft right now. It's not even close. The Wii needs no defense, but the PS2 alone - an 8-year-old system, for Pete's sake - is going to outsell the Xbox 360 for 2007 by a considerable margin. Meanwhile, that magic $399/399EUR price-point is keeping PS3 sales neck and neck with the 360 - and this is before the triple A titles of 2008 hit.

Agree, just look at my predictions for end 2007. Sony made a step towards better sales, but they really need the games and continued sales. We'll have to wait how it sells in Januari. Hopefully they can sell better then oktober.

Seen this coming for ages. I never expected the PS3 to sell as bad as it did this year (expected 11M by years end) nor did I expect the Wii to sell like it has (expect around 14M, until updating predictions in July). This whole year I have said just wait for christmas when the people are willing to spend, and you will see the PS3 move. What do we have now? Decent sales for the PS3. Mark my words, this is just the start of PS3's climb to the top. Next year will see 2.5 times the sales of 2007.

I'm happy about this, but that doesn't seen to be the overall tone in here...
