I still don't think that'll be enough to save the NGP.

How many bans do you have left?

Not many. Well, I just don't think the NGP will do well, despite the internet going crazy for dual analog sticks and PS3 ports. While a low price is a good thing (relatively to what they were talking, because $250 plus is far from what I find ideal for a handheld), I don't think it will be priced at that and even if it did it wouldn't make it sell really good.

what's the definition of not doing well, Dreamcast? Xbox? PSP Go?

Not selling over 135 millions. My answer doesn't matter, sucess to me can mean a failure to you. And for me, sucess would be selling above the PSP, which I don't think it will.

Really? 135 million units? So basically every platform has failed according to you.

The PSP is the 7th most popular system ever made.

The NGP, as its successor, is possibly launching at the same price $249.99 as the first psp.

Nintendo's competing product is at price parity this time rather than $100 less; and, aside from 3D it certainly offers less hardware for the same price.

Considering the enthusiasm the developers have for the NGP (for its potential for a unique handheld experience and easy of making games for it), it is certainly going to have a larger and more diverse game library than the original PSP.

There is no way, within logic or reason, the NGP would not outsell the original PSP.

agreed

Well Nintendo you had a good run with the handheld market.

(if the prices are true)

thats what it says $250 and $299?  lol yea right

and no not going to click on links.   not goign to give people my views

but i'm sorry its impossible to believe that the NGP based on what i have seen that it can be as cheap as $250.  What did the PSP's come out as?  how much was the PSP Go when released not to long ago?  So please tell me then how they can sell this for $250?  What are they planning on losing a fortune for each system sold?

So basically what you're saying is that NGP is going to cost more for Sony to manufacture than a PS3 despite having lower specs, significantly less hardware material, and being much smaller and cheaper to ship in mass quantities.

It sounds to me like you simply aren't familiar with how much things cost.

actually lower

"There will be two different models (Standard Model and 3G Model) for the Next Generation Portable. The standard model will have a price list between $250 to $280. For the model with 3G support, players will able to play online in anywhere over the wireless network, as long as you subscribed with a provider. The price list will be between $320 to $350. The 3G version will also come with some extra pre-loaded applications which will make use of the 3G capabilities such as Augmented Reality."

I have trouble believing it's true. If it is though, good for Sony. The cost of the units to Sony might be higher, but if it catches on they might be smiling. eventually.

I doubt this is genuine but it would be awesome. By the way, what they meant with "The 3G version will also come with some extra pre-loaded applications which will make use of the 3G capabilities such as Augmented Reality."?

What augmented reality has to do with 3G?

Initial runs are almost always more expensive than later runs due to economies of scale and improved/streamlined manufacturing processes

quick though process.  the psp go came out what $250?

is that not smaller by a long shot than this?  is that not WAY behind in features and graphics and touch screens and you name it?

and that was not too long ago at all.  i would laugh my ass off if this came out at $250.

how abotu we also look at sony's track record.  Not ONE system has ever came out for less than $300 when first released.  With seeing how all tech sites seem to be wanting to throw teh ngp the tech award of the year already, how can you honestly believe that this amazing piece of hardware will be their cheapest system EVER.

Oh and lets not ignore Sony as a corporation.  EVERY single product they have is the expensive product.  They are never the mass market priced.  Their TV's, Stereos, you name it are always the upper end priced ones.
