whats sad is that people keep bringing up huge hypotheticals on what woudl happen to the gaming industry if this geohot won.

um hello, every console has been hacked since the beginning of consoles, and how much has that affected us.

I think the bigger question is:  How much will gaming change if Sony WINS.  If sony a company wins this lawsuit about someone messing around with HIS OWN product that he purchased.  How even after he bought it, he is still somehow RENTING it and not a owner of it. It is still Sony's property and he can't do whatever he wants with it.  Legally that is.  I have yet to see anything saying he plays illegal games on it, besides mario, lol.

You guys bring up DRM as the result of sony losing, but hell i imagine much worse than drm if sony wins.

Please explain how it will affect all of use

I don't care what anyone does with their console but by him releasing the root key has opened the flood gates...my friend told me his MW2 account was reset, my friend doesn't cheat so tell me how is it bad if sony wins when assholes like this are fucking over honest gamers? Everyone keeps talking about "consumer rights" don't i have the right to play without fuckers cheating me out of an honest match?

nothing fun about it when honest gamers are getting screwed over. Sony just needs to follow MS's example so we can go back to playing games

1:Well if you want to get specific you payed for the experiance that attracted you to the PS3 if otherOS wasn't that experiance then why would you care? and Sony sold the PS3 at a lose for years. You already got what you payed for.

hate to break the news but 90% of consoles users have it sitting in one spot and it never moves, so maybe it will bother you but it won't bother the majority of users (  but I'm sure the vocal minority will make hell on the net as usual),

Any way Sony and the others consoles makers decide to follow will surely inconvenient some people but if it allow the majority of the standard users to have a better online experience I'm sure that's a small price to pay.

1 & 2. Because as a consumer I don't very well like having stuff I paid for taken. The ability to use it if I want is there, and will remain there. If I have to go somewhere besides Sony for support then so be it.

5. As someone said earlier Linux ran homebrew horribly. Homebrew on the main OS runs much more smoothly

March 2: Sony promises to continue supporting Linux

March 29: Sony relocates the developer in charge of Linux into another department

April 1: Sony removes Linux.

Why if they removed linux because of Geohot did they wait so long? Everyone knows that Sony was spending a small fortune on supporting a feature that not many used. Blaming piracy was just the easiest way of removing it...
