So I never actually started "Decoded" and just skipped ahead to "007 Dr. No". Boy do I love me some James Bond.

Song of fire and ice is serious junk. george martin is seriously fucked. the characters are shallow and hollow...he turns to cheap crazy things to try and give them depth...oh look [character] fucks a black chick and talks about licking semen off her own face and fingers while referring to them as people see how deep her character is now! most characters can be summed up in just a few words...some even less.

his main plot driver happens to be the murder of main characters and introduction of new ones (some who only last a couple chapters). i like murdering and maiming main characters...it creates suspense when they get into dangerous situations... but its more surprising when the characters dont die...except that since they are alive it means they still have the opportunity to die. mass character wipeouts should occur near the end or at a few critical moments throughout(large battles for example). murdering them pretty constantly throughout just makes it expected.

I think it's been over a month since I started The Count of Monte Cristo and I'm sitting at 55%... lol
I don't regret it though. It's been really enjoyable.

Wow, this sounds terribly lame. Guess it all goes downhill after the first book.

Currently reading "Sons and Lovers" by D.H. Lawrence

Recommendations on the fantasy books stuff:
- Enders game (the others are a bit meh)
- Lord of Rings as the still ultimate classic fantasy series
- Hyperion, with some quite good follow on stories
- Any Discworld novel
- The Wheel of Time, although I gave up after book 6 or so - got a bit drawn out for my taste

Just finished 'A Dance with Dragons' (which was fantastic).

Started 'Hyperion' by Dan Simmons. It's not quite what I was expecting as it reads like a collection of short stories linked by central narrative. Good though.

That is exactly what makes it so great. The writing style changes for each of the stories. Its quite a remarkable feat imo.

As for stories, just continue with the other Hyperion books.

Is that the one where there's a scene with 2 guys wrestling naked on a rug? Or was that Women in Love?

No wrestling so far, but I am only halfway through.

My threads still going, I honestly thought it'd would have been dead by the 15th page.

I'm reading the Conan Chronicles, it's alright, nothing to freak out about.

I also read Marketing Metrics, it's probably the most boring book ever created for no reason at all.

I went through 'Green Eggs and Ham' and 'The Lorax' again, wasn't to bad, they are both fairly intelligent books.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.
